Minor Details: Games of April 14

Aaron Slegers has another fine game.  A three-run fifth carries the Lookouts.  A good game for Phil Hughes in Fort Myers.  Twins affiliates sweep!

ROCHESTER 4, GWINNETT 2 IN GWINNETT

The Red Wings were held hitless for five innings, but Gregorio Petit tripled and scored in the sixth, Brock Stassi homered in the seventh, and they added two more runs in the eighth.  The Stripers scored two in the ninth and had the tying run on base when the game ended.

Ryan LaMarre was 2-for-3 with a walk in his Red Wings debut.  Petit was 2-for-4 and is batting .400.  Nick Buss was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and is batting .300.  Aaron Slegers pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks and striking out five.  His ERA is 0.75 in 12 innings.  Matt Magill pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and striking out one, to get the save.

CHATTANOOGA 3, PENSACOLA 2 IN PENSACOLA

Trailing 2-0 after four, the Lookouts scored three in the fifth to go into the lead to stay.  LaMonte Wade had a two-run single to tie it and Nick Gordon had an RBI single to put the Lookouts in front.

Wade and Gordon were each 2-for-4, with Gordon raising his average to .361.  Lewis Thorpe struck out four in four innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits and no walks.  Todd Van Steensel pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.  Anthony McIver pitched a scoreless inning.  Omar Bencomo struck out two in two shutout innings.

FORT MYERS 5, TAMPA 4 IN FORT MYERS

Two errors helped the Miracle take a 4-0 lead in the fourth.  It was 5-1 after six, but the Tarpons scored three in the seventh.  They put the go-ahead run on base in that inning, but never did so again.

Jimmy Kerrigan was 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice.  He is batting .394.  Aaron Whitefield was 2-for-4 with a double.  Alex Perez was 1-for-2 with a walk and is batting  .300.  Phil Hughes pitched five shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks and striking out four.  Ryan Mason pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out two.
