Minor Details: Games of April 18

A tough day for Miles Jaye.  Zander Weil and Nick Gordon lead the Lookouts to a doubleheader sweep.  A big inning sinks the Miracle.

CHARLOTTE 9, ROCHESTER 2 IN CHARLOTTE

The Knights scored one in the first, two in the second, and three in the third on their way to an easy win.

Leonardo Reginatto was 2-for-4 with two doubles.  Kennys Vargas hit a home run, his second.  Miles Jaye lasted only three innings, allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks and striking out two.  Matt Magill struck out four in two perfect innings.

CHATTANOOGA 12, JACKSONVILLE 4 IN CHATTANOOGA (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

The Lookouts had four three-run innings:  the first, second, fourth, and fifth.  They hit four home runs.

Zander Weil was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run, his second.  He scored twice and drove in three and is batting .447.  LaMonte Wade was 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run, and a walk, scoring three times and driving in two.  Sean Miller was 2-for-4 with a home run, scoring twice and driving in two.  Edgar Corcino was 2-for-4 with a triple.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs and is batting .364.  Brent Rooker hit a home run, his first.  Stephen Gonsalves struck out eight in six innings, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks.  His ERA is 1.76 with 16 strikeouts in 15.1 innings (3 starts).

CHATTANOOGA 3, JACKSONVILLE 2 IN CHATTANOOGA (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Nick Gordon homered in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie and doubles by Ryan Walker and Brian Navarreto brought home an insurance run.  The Lookouts needed it, because the Jumbo Shrimp scored once and had the tying run on third when the game ended.

Gordon was 2-for-3 and the home run was his second.  He's batting .383.  Navaretto was 2-for-3 with two doubles.  Walker was 2-for-3 with a double.  Zander Weil was 0-for-3 and is batting .415.  LaMonte Wade was 1-for-2 with a walk and is batting .300.  Ryan Eades struck out six in 3.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk.  Omar Bencomo struck out four in 3.1 innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks.

DUNEDIN 8, FORT MYERS 4 IN DUNEDIN

The Miracle led 4-3 after six but the Blue Jays scored five in the seventh.  Dalton Pompey hit a three-run double in the inning.

Jimmy Kerrigan was 3-for-4 with a double and is batting .395.  Alex Perez was 2-for-5.  Joe Cronin was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk and is batting .375.  Anthony Marzi struck out five in 4.1 innings but allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks.  His ERA, which had been zero, is now 1.98 with 14 strikeouts in 13.2 innings (3 starts).
