Minor Details: Games of April 20

A big first inning carries the Red Wings.  Not much offense for the Lookouts.  A sacrifice fly in the ninth lifts the Miracle.  Akil Baddoo goes deep for the Kernels.  We hope to get caught up on minor league games later today.

ROCHESTER 13, COLUMBUS 5 IN ROCHESTER

The Clippers scored four in the top of the first, but the Red Wings came back with eight in the bottom of the first and controlled the game the rest of the way.  Brock Stassi hit a grand slam in the inning and Taylor Featherston made it back-to-back homers.

Willians Astudillo was 4-for-4 with a home run and a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Gregorio Petit was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs and is batting .382.  Stassi had a walk in addition to the grand slam, which was his second homer of the season.  Featherston also walked in addition to his home run.  Nick Buss was 1-for-4 with a walk and is batting .324.  Adalberto Mejia settled down after the first inning, striking out five in four innings and giving up four runs on five hits and two walks.  Tyler Duffey struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

JACKSONVILLE 5, CHATTANOOGA 1 IN JACKSONVILLE

The Lookouts scored in the first inning, but it was downhill from there.  Eric Jagielo's homer in the fourth put the Jumbo Shrimp in the lead to stay.

Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 and is batting .352.  Lewis Thorpe struck out eight in 5.2 innings, but gave up four runs on six hits and no walks.  Andrew Vasquez struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and no walks.  Cody Stashak pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk and striking out one.

FORT MYERS 4, BRADENTON 3 IN BRADENTON

Jimmy Kerrigan's sacrifice fly in the ninth drove home the winning run.  The Miracle had scored three in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead, but the Marauders tied it in the bottom of the sixth.

Taylor Grzelakowski was 2-for-3 with a double and is batting .375.  Jaylin Davis was 2-for-4 with a double.  Kerrigan was 0-for-2 with a walk in addition to the sacrifice fly and is batting .408.  Joe Cronin was 1-for-4 and is batting .400.  Charlie Barnes struck out six in three shutout innings, giving up one hit and three walks.  Andro Cutera struck out five in four innings of relief, giving up one run on four hits and two walks.

KANE COUNTY 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Cougars scored three in the third and led the rest of the way.  It was 5-0 before Akil Baddoo's two-run homer in the seventh.

Baddoo was 2-for-4 with the two-run homer.  Shane Carrier was 2-for-4.  Mark Contreras was 1-for-3 with a walk and is batting .429.  Andrew Bechtold was 0-for-4 and is batting .308.  Blayne Enlow pitched 4.2 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks and striking out three.  Tyler Watson struck out five in three innings, giving up an unearned run on four hits and a walk.  Moises Gomez struck out two in a perfect inning.
