April 23, 2018: Creative Juice

I decided to take some time off from drinking, and so far the extra time and focus has paid huge dividends. I’ve got my next tabletop game release figured and I’m working on a couple of scripts. Feels a tad more productive than downing four or five beers and watching a movie.

  1. Didn't realize it was CarGO who walked it off yesterday until CBS this morning decided to highlight it on their opener.

      1. Yeah, we tuned in. The food porn was a pretty funny gag. My institution made two cameo appearances during that segment. I lol’d at the scene where the cop gives homer a refill on bourbon street.

        1. Wait, you can take the drink on Bourbon Street?!? And I had to laugh at how long they let Homer go on about the food. One of their better episodes lately

  2. So, NBA playoffs. Last year, there were a lot of sweeps, which made for less than exciting series. This year, though... plenty of drama. The East appears wide open (I think Philly can win it!). The West a little less so, but the Pelicans look like a formidable foe for the defending champs, especially if Curry isn't ready. The #1 seed in the West has looked... not that great. Utah was terrific on Friday night (Ru-Bi-O!). Cleveland is running out the game's best player and not much else. Milwaukee with a thrilling victory to knot their series. Same for Washington.

Go Wolves! A win tonight would be very, very tasty.

    1. I agree on Philly, although, I'm admittedly biased. Still, they had 27 turnovers and won on the road against an experienced and desperate Heat team. Wow! If the Wolves don't make it, I would love to see a Jazz-Sixers Finals and then watch Thibs' head explode as 2 teams with point guards that "can't shoot" are in the Finals. Of course, Rubio has improved greatly in this area from earlier in his career and Ben Simmons just doesn't attempt 3s unless it's a end of clock desperation attempt. Still, it's amazing how good a player he is without even making a 3 all season.

    2. If the two dudes wearing jerseys and cut-off shorts walking out of a downtown liquor store with some Natty Light are any indication, the crowd is going to be ready tonight.

Was really pulling for a Pacers win last night, LeBron is dragging that Cavs squad by the scruff of their necks. He got some help when Korver heated up at the right time to put it away.

    1. I once talked to a coworker about a 13 pitch at-bat from Mauer. He never missed an opportunity to rip on Mauer so his response was, "Yes, but half of those were foul balls."

I wasn't sure how to reply to that.

  3. I was jogging while listening to the game yesterday, and one line in particular made me chuckle.

Dazzle: "'Busenitz' [...] just saying that name makes ya thirsty"

  4. I'm so disappointed with myself for not making this the video for today. Because it might be the last video many of us see.

    1. Rose is the answer, if the question is "what allows cheaptoy to emotionally disconnect from the outcome of this series?"

    2. There seems to be a huge disconnect about Rose: the internet says he is trash (both on and off the court) not the internet says he is awesome. Its bizarre.

  5. 50 in one quarter is even more impressive when it's against a team coaches by a defensive genius.

    1. Although everyone around me noticed we were slipping, it was a revelation to folks when I pointed out they scored 50 in the quarter. I’ve never been in an arena that died so quickly.

      1. Sounds like it, though not official. Usually, when they wait to make an announcement on who's being called up, it's because the guy being called up is making his MLB debut and they want to tell him first. Obviously not the case with Duffey, so maybe not sure depending on who has the freshest arm.

  6. rubio takes a charge giving westbrook his 4th foul of the night with 2 minutes left in the 2nd. this game has been a lot of fun so far.

  7. Utah has dominated the second half. But this game has gotten beyond chippy. Westbrook needs to get tossed.

  8. Crowder tossed. Not a good call. Not sure he even knew Adams was there.

I am not a fan of OKC (although I love Adams). Russ just seems like a dick. And I have never liked Melo's game.

Westbrook just threw Ricky to the floor to get an offensive rebound. WTF? Get this game under control, refs.
