  1. This is the 3rd game of the series I have watched and the 6th game all season. We suck in transition, both offensively and on defense. That is where we miss Rubio the most. He ran the break beautifully, and defended it well too. How the heck do we allow Harden to drive the lane at will with only the occasionally ticky tack foul? If you are going to foul him, well then FOUL HIM! Lastly, Gibson and Butler are not near 100% They are toughing it out, but they are both limited.

    1. This is all correct.

Add in that Andrew Wiggins was good until Chris Paul fouled him hard in the 1st quarter, slumped his shoulders, and has disappeared. MAX CONTRACT YES!

      1. A guy who has one good game out of five totes deserves to be paid as much as possible to cripple the cap room.

  2. So, any novelty or good vibes of all 4 major pro teams making the playoffs has totally worn off. At least all 4 teams did not leave the outcome in question. All 4 lost in colossal fashion.

But... but... I will say this:

Last year, the Wolves suh-hucked. I had them pegged as a 6 seed coming into the year. If Butler wouldn't have been hurt they would have been a 4 or 5 seed and probably win a series, which would have made us all happy.

I think what disappoints me most about this year for the Wolves is the defense... or lack thereof. Thibs was supposed to be a defensive genius. We brought in supposed good defenders, and we frankly suck at defense. Yes, we are a mess offensively too, but defense is a true measure of the heart of a team. We had no heart.

    1. The Wolves led the league in fewest turnovers and I used to think that was one of the big reasons they got to the playoffs and did as well as they did, but now I realize it is because it is hard to have a lot of turnovers when you never pass the ball and you rarely run the court and you take a bunch of contested jumpshots. The other team will just sit back and say go ahead, we'll just rebound. Leading the league in fewest turnovers is a lot like leading the major leagues in fewest GIDP. The really good teams have a bunch of GIDP because they get a bunch of runners on base and they put the ball in play a lot.

    2. I will say in the Wolves defense, they were playing the team with the best record in the NBA. Even if they played their very best that they had all season, it would be difficult to see them winning the series. The Twins didn't have the excuse of playing a truly great team. The Yankees were a good team, but they were still a wildcard and not as good as the Astros and Indians.

    3. What disappoints me most is how utterly unlikable they became. Which you'd think would be difficult to do with guys like Butler and Gibson and a guy like KAT who's comparables are all-time greats. From the stone age offense to the defense built around defending a stone age offense, to Thibs bs about "toughness", to bringing in garbage people like #25. It all added up to making me dislike this team.

        1. This one, especially felt really stagey. Every single person in the room was all "Oh Em Gee, look at how amazed we are by the result of this! No, really. This is surprising to us! We're not playing to the camera at all."
