Minor Details: Games of May 3

Not much offense for the Red Wings.  Early runs and three good pitchers carry the Lookouts.  Even less offense for the Miracle.  Alex Kirilloff hits a big home run for the Kernels.

LEHIGH VALLEY 5, ROCHESTER 2 IN ROCHESTER

Joey Meneses hit a three-run homer in the second to give the IronPigs a 3-0 lead and they never trailed the rest of the way.  The Red Wings cut the margin to 3-2 in the fifth inning but could get no closer.

Jimmy Kerrigan made his AAA debut, jumped all the way from high A, and went 0-for-1 with a walk and a hit by pitch.  Five men in the Red Wings lineup have batting averages of less than .190.  Aaron Slegers pitched 6.1 innings, allowing five runs on ten hits and a walk and striking out four.  His ERA is 2.67.  Gabriel Moya struck out two in 1.2 perfect innings.  His ERA is 1.93.  Nick Anderson pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one.  His ERA is 0.75.

Ex-Twin Trevor Plouffe! played second base for the IronPigs.  He went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.  He is batting .217 in 23 at-bats.

CHATTANOOGA 4, MOBILE 1 IN MOBILE

The Lookouts scored one in the first and two in the second, leading all the way.

LaMonte Wade was 3-for-5 with a home run, his third.  He is batting .310.  Zander Weil was 2-for-4 and is batting .329.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-5 and is batting .340.  Kohl Stewart struck out five in five innings, giving up one run on five hits and three walks.  He threw 89 pitches.  Tyler Jay struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and two walks.  His ERA remains at zero in seven innings.  Zack Jones struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and two walks.  His ERA is 1.42.

TAMPA 5, FORT MYERS 0 IN TAMPA

Alexander Palma hit a two-run double in the first and the Tarpons never trailed.  The Miracle had four hits, all singles.

Joe Cronin was 0-for-4 and is batting .333.  Carson Crites made his Class A debut and was 0-for-3.  Charlie Barnes pitched four innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks and striking out one.  Logan Lombana struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a walk.

CEDAR RAPIDS 6, SOUTH BEND 5 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Alex Kirilloff hit a three-run homer in the fifth to turn a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 lead.  Royce Lewis singled home an insurance run in the sixth and the Kernels needed it, as the Cubs got a run in the seventh and had the tying run on third base.

Lewis was 2-for-3 with a walk and is batting .354.  Kirilloff was 2-for-4, scoring twice, and the home run was his fourth.  Bailey Ober did well other than the second inning, when he allowed four runs.  For the game he pitched four innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk and striking out four.  Jose Martinez pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up a walk and striking out two.
