The Big A

Game 33 Twins at Anaheim

*** No FSN, National TV game FS1 ***

Happy Byron Buxton Day! He off the DL and back in the lineup which means Robbie Grossman exits the OF woo wooo! Is there a Statcast breakdown on OFers arms? Because it sure seems like Grossman has a noodle arm out there.

Also Happy Berrios Day........

HAPPY BUXTERRIOS DAY!

All this excitement has to result in a win for our favorite baseballers (although the Angles are no slouch of team with 22 wins so far this year)

  1. I don't get FS1. This is depressing. I've been looking forward to the game all day.

  2. The Big A is the 4th oldest stadium in the big leagues (#s 3, 4 ,and 5 all reside in California) and it is a great looking stadium on tv.

    1. I just looked at the list. Tropicana is 8th. Weird. I didn't realize the field predated the team by 8 years.

      1. Tampa was trying to woo the White Sox, then the Giants to move to their stadium.

  3. Is there a Statcast breakdown on OFers arms? Because it sure seems like Grossman has a noodle arm out there.

Statcast doesn't have it (yet) but UZR does. Here's 2017-2018, sorted by the ARM component, minimum of 500 innings to get Grossman. The worst Twin is at 22nd, Buxton with -2.6 runs over 1240 innings. Next is Grossman at -1.0 in 508 innings and Kepler also at -1.0 but in 1429 innings. Rosario is on the other side with a +2.4 runs in 1526 innings. Including the innings amount, Grossman and Buxton are almost tied at the bottom of the Twins rankings. However, they aren't even close to the absolute worst, Khris Davis (-10.7 runs but he has the yips). Christian Yelich (oof, Milwaukee) is right behind him at -9.4 runs and J.D. Martinez not far behind that with -8.7 runs.

  4. Dozier went 1-for-24 but then had a 3-for-5 game with a tripe and a HR. Then he went 2-for-18 before tonight going 4-for-4 with a double and a home run.

  5. Berrios left the game with a runner at first and one out and the score tied and yet gets the L. Reason #563 pitcher wins and losses are stupid.

    1. I agree on pitcher wins and losses, but over his last four starts, Berrios has an ERA of 8.84. If the Twins are going to win anything this year, they need him to do better.
