    1. Brooklyn 99 also cancelled, The Big Bang Theory meanwhile got two more seasons.

        1. Very sad because that show is hilarious. The former, not the latter.

      1. Turns out their deal with SyFy wasn't that great. If you watched them on anything other than SyFy, you didn't help the numbers. Watching on say Amazon Prime Video only helped the production company. I wonder if moving to something more independent like Netflix or Hulu would fix that.

  1. In response to Spooky's plea, I'd offer the following: Byron Buxton being back in the bigs.

  2. I arrived at the jalapeno's baseball game last night to this scene:

It turns out she's the mom of one of the players and had come straight from work to watch the game. Phew!

    1. HPR had his second game of the year last night. I had to leave after the top of the third to get EAR and the little girls (AJR and LBR) home, as it was a school night.
I was ticked when the last batter of the 3rd got a 2RBI single (well hit to CF), because that invoked the 5-run rule and HPR was left on deck. I knew I'd miss his next AB of the game.
I got back to the park as the bottom of the 4th began.
I had missed HPR's first hit of the season... a fly ball to CF, perhaps the first fly ball he's ever hit in competition (last year's hits were 2 ground balls and a swinging bunt). He stole 2nd, 3rd, and home to score the run.
His other two ABs: two Ks looking. (His first game, 2 Ks looking and a HBP on his upper left arm.) .200/.333/.200/.533
He's reluctant to swing, so it seems that the umps don't give him the benefit of the doubt on the strikezone. After he got to two strikes quickly in his first AB, I was actually proud of him for laying off a low pitch, but it was called a strike.

Three innings catching this game (2 the first). He's much improved from last year (when opponents could steal off him at will). Though it probably helps that his pitchers so far this year have been throwing near the strikezone.
He said he saw a picture of a catcher and how they hold the mitt well in front of them. He tried that and found it a lot easier to get his glove quickly to the side. (So long as he stays far back enough to avoid CI.)
He's played an inning of LF in each game, and I can tell how his attention wanes. I think C may be his calling (it was my sister's position as well).

  3. "Minor Details" will not appear tomorrow. We'll try to get caught up either Sunday or Monday.

  4. Anybody watch "Cobra Kai" yet? I'm really intrigued, and if the first two episodes are as good as advertised I might pony up for the whole season.

  5. It might be time we question the mental health of the Timberwolves head coach.

    1. Got. To. Go.

I feel like this is the worst possible situation for KAT, who also happens to be the most important player.

      1. I love Jimmothy Buckets but uh... KAT is the franchise. They can't let Thibs stick around any longer.

I mean, the guy who seems like the slam-dunk best option for the franchise is a lunatic who guts the roster to win now and calls his players "stupid m-fers" from the sidelines. It's all so Wolvesy. Ugh.

Also... I'm feeling more glad that Ricky was able to get out from this ogre...

      2. They need to fire him immediately. And they need to talk to employment attorney to get out of the contract.

        1. No kidding. Causing property damage seems like a pretty cut and dried “for cause” reason for termonation. He can’t possibly be liked enough by the players to put up with that kind of FO dysfunction.

  6. Running on fumes at work this afternoon. Up at 3 am with our 12-year old Boston Terrier, he was suffering multiple seizures. After a night at the emergency vet (which I recommond to avoid if at all possible $$) he's stablized and spending the day with our regular vet. Probably means meds for the rest of his life, which will mesh nicely with our 11-year BT's daily meds for congestive heart condition. On the plus side the rescue lady we work with is giving us som CBD oil, so Oscar & I will be chilling tonight!

    1. We had to do the emergency vet last year when Harper ate a pack of sugarless gum with Xylitol. They induced vomiting and then monitored her glucose for several hours and she was fine, but there was some sticker shock when we were checking out and paying.

    2. Glad they were able to treat him effectively. Hope you’re chilling now!

We’ve had a couple emergency vet visits over the years, most recently with our younger cat, who was (literally) full of shit. For reasons that escape my memory now, he was severely constipated. The x-rays were impressive. I’ve never taken an animal anatomy course, but locating his colon was as easy as pointing out the Volga on a map. The initial solution was to give him a laxative & keep him under observation, which was ineffective. So, then they decided he needed an enema. I’ve never heard noises like that before; it sounded like Zuul was being branded in the other room. And that was after they gave him Special K. I’ve never been so glad to pay someone else for their expertise.

      1. My experience with emergency vet was way up there, from a few years ago. Our older tabby liked to sneak out the front door when given the opportunity. While we were in Santa Fe for the holidays, he snuck out on the neighbor girl who was cat-sitting, and decided it would be fun to visit the pit bull next door. Predictably, he got mauled. She/the neighbors managed to get to him while he was still alive and he got taken to the most fricking expensive animal hospital in town.

I got home ahead of the rest of the family and had to go to the animal hospital to choose between having his left hind quarter amputated, and he would probably die after spending $$$$$$, or having him put down and spending only $$$$ for the intensive care he'd already gotten. It broke my heart, but I wasn't gonna put him through the misery of probably dying anyway AND draining my bank account.

        1. The never ending question between quantity and quality... The asshole is more spry than ever, but yet still shitting places not her box. Oh well.

      2. We've got him home now and he's doing a lot better. Hopefully with his meds we can keep it under control.

  7. NBBW and I went with a couple we know and another couple to a Mystery Room event tonite (On a work night? Zoinks, Scoob!).

The gig was we were put into a room with a mystery to solve (Agatha Christie disappeared) and what was her unfinished business?

So we had to scour the room for clues, many of which were hidden in locked boxes where we had to deduce the combination locks to get them open.

The whole deal was an hour, and was quite fun - everyone was able to contribute, including this boyo using an Enigma machine and Morse Code.
