Minor Details: Games of June 2

Another good game for Lewis Thorpe.  Tyler Wells gets just enough offensive support.  A big game for Jean Carlos Arias.  It may be time for Alex Kirilloff to move up.

ROCHESTER AT NORFOLK

Wet grounded out.

CHATTANOOGA 13, MOBILE 5 IN CHATTANOOGA

Leading 3-0, the Lookouts scored nine runs in the fifth to take control of the game.  LaMonte Wade hit a two-run homer in the inning, but Chattanooga also derived substantial benefit from six consecutive walks.  The BayBears scored all five of their runs in the eighth.

Wade was 2-for-3 with a walk in addition to his seventh homer.  He scored twice and drove in four and is batting .300.  Zander Wiel was 2-for-5 with a double and is batting .318.

Lewis Thorpe struck out six in six shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks.  It was his third consecutive scoreless game, covering 16.2 innings, and his ERA has dropped from 5.45 to 3.74.  Zack Jones pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and two walks.  His ERA is 2.14.

The teams combined for eighteen walks, with the Lookouts drawing twelve of them.  Remarkably, the game still took just three hours and four minutes.

FORT MYERS 3, ST. LUCIE 1 IN ST. LUCIE

The Miracle scored two in the eighth to break a 1-1 tie.  Brandon Lopez followed a pair of one-out walks with an RBI double and an insurance run scored on a passed ball.  The Mets did not get a hit after Michael Paez' game-tying homer in the seventh.

There were only five hits in the game, three by Fort Myers.  Shane Carrier was 0-for-1 with a walk and is batting .091 (1-for-11) since his promotion from Cedar Rapids.

Tyler Wells pitched eight innings, giving up one run on two hits and four walks while striking out seven.  His ERA is 2.86.  Andrew Vasquez pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk.  His ERA is 0.64.
