Minor Details: Games of June 15

A Red Wings comeback falls short.  Kohl Stewart does better in a loss.  Travis Blankenhorn wins the FSL Home Run Derby.  An offensive explosion for the Kernels.  Wander Valdez leads the DSL Twins.

BUFFALO 4, ROCHESTER 3 IN BUFFALO

Darnell Sweeney hit a two-run double in the second and the Bisons led the rest of the way.  The Red Wings scored two in the ninth to cut the margin to 4-3 and had the tying run on base when the game ended.

Zack Granite was 2-for-3 with a walk.

Zack Littell pitched 5.2 innings, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks and striking out four.  Luke Bard pitched a perfect inning, striking out one.  His ERA is 2.50.

BIRMINGHAM 4, CHATTANOOGA 1 IN BIRMINGHAM

Trey Michalczewski homered in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie and Seby Zavala hit a two-run double in the seventh to provide some insurance.

Tanner English was 2-for-3.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 2-for-4.  Andy Wilkins was 1-for-4 and is batting .353.

Kohl Stewart struck out five in five innings, giving up an unearned run on four hits and three walks.  Sam Clay retired all four batters he faced, striking out three of them.

FORT MYERS MIRACLE

No game scheduled due to the all-star break.  Travis Blankenhorn won the Florida State League Home Run Derby.

CEDAR RAPIDS 12, PEORIA 4 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Leading 3-2, the Kernels scored six in the fourth to take control of the game.  Jose Miranda hit a two-run homer in the inning.

Royce Lewis was 3-for-5 with a home run, his sixth.  He scored twice and drove in four.  Trey Cabbage was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  He scored twice and drove in three.  Miranda was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and the home run was his sixth.  Andrew Bechtold was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs.  Robby Rinn was 2-for-5 with a home run, his third, and is batting .355.  Alex Kirilloff was 1-for-4 with a walk and is batting .328.

Bryan Sammons pitched six innings, giving up three runs on nine hits and two walks and striking out two.

DSL TWINS 9, DSL ANGELS 5 AT ANGELS

Wander Valdez hit a three-run homer in the fifth to give the Twins a 5-1 lead.  They added three in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Yelinson Pena was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.  Francisco Martinez was 1-for-4 with a walk and is batting .333.  Wilfri Castro was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .318.

Yordin Mateo struck out five in 3.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks.  Luciano De La Cruz struck out five in four innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and two walks.
