Game! : twins @ cubs

Wrigley Field is a fun place to go.

It wod be even better if the Twins pitchers did not give up four home runs this game.

That's on you, I guess, Mejia. I heard a Twins fan bemoaning to his friend about how it was all downhill after Berrios' bad start, because Mejia is not a good pitcher. I hope he's proven wrong today.

  1. Great at bat by Joe.

One thing that struck me yesterday was how many of the Chicago fans were talking about how awesome Joe is and has always been.

I mean, he did have three hits, a home run and 5 RBI, but no one there seemed particularly surprised by that.

    1. He caught it poorly I think. He caught it with the glove facing down and since it wasn't in the pocket, it slipped out.

  2. I’m not great at math, but I’m calculating that Joe has 38% of his season’s RBI in the last 2.9% of his season (or 1.9% of the Twins’ season).

This seems remarkable, though not necessarily in a good way.

    1. last 5 games, coming into today:
.176/167/412, 3-17 with a walk, HR, double, and 6 RBIs. But hey, that ISO (236)!

  3. I'm assuming that the reason that the umpire didn't actually make a call was because it wasn't even a remotely close play (the catcher didn't even really make a move to tag him), but it's still a little weird.

  4. This whole "throw a bunch of nitpicky balls, then groove one right down the middle" strategy doesn't seem to be panning out.

  5. Having a third of the lineup go down with heat related illnesses is not ideal.

  6. The lesson, as always: when you get in the red zone, you gotta score touchdowns.
