Minor Details: Games of July 14

Kohl Stewart pitches well in a loss.  Not much offense for the Lookouts.  Royce Lewis makes his high-A debut.  Jose Miranda has a big day for the Kernels.  Lots of offense for the E-Twins.  No offense for the GCL Twins.

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 4, ROCHESTER 0 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE

The RailRiders scored one in the second and put the game out of reach with three in the eighth.  Abiatal Avelino had a two-run triple in the inning.

The Red Wings had just four hits.  Jon Kemmer was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .067.

Kohl Stewart pitched six innings, giving up one run on seven hits and two walks and striking out two.

MONTGOMERY 5, CHATTANOOGA 2 IN CHATTANOOGA

Nick Solak hit a two-run homer in the third to put the Biscuits in the lead to stay at 3-1.  The Lookouts cut it to 3-2 in the fourth but could come no closer.

Mitchell Kranson was 1-for-4 with a home run.  Zander Wiel was 1-for-4 and is batting .304.

Omar Bencomo pitched 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and no walks and striking out four.  Andrew Vasquez retired all seven men he faced, striking out four of them.  His ERA is 1.29.  Cody Stashak pitched a scoreless inning, striking out one.

LAKELAND 3, FORT MYERS 1 IN LAKELAND

The Miracle scored one in the first, but the Flying Tigers tied it in the second and took the lead with single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Taylor Grzelakowski was 2-for-4.  Miguel Sano was 0-for-2 with two walks and is batting .317.  Royce Lewis made his high-A debut and went 0-for-3 with a walk.

Brusdar Graterol pitched five innings, giving up two runs on eight hits and a walk and striking out two.  Adam Bray struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  His ERA is 0.77.

CEDAR RAPIDS 11, KANE COUNTY 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Trailing 2-1, the Kernels scored five in the fifth to go into the lead to stay.  Jose Miranda hit a grand slam in the inning.

Miranda was 4-for-5 with a double in addition to the grand slam, which was his tenth home run of the season.  He scored twice and drove in five.  Andrew Bechtold was 4-for-5 with a double.  Robby Rinn was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk and is batting .331.  Jacob Pearson was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two.  Akil Baddoo was 2-for-4 with a double and scored twice.  Ben Rodriguez was 2-for-5.

Jordan Balazovic pitched five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks and striking out four.  His ERA is 2.37.  Kevin Marnon struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  His ERA is 1.26.

ELIZABETHTON 15, KINGSPORT 5 IN KINGSPORT

Leading 5-3, the Twins scored six in the fifth to take control of the game.  Elizabethton drew four walks in the inning.

Alex Robles was 3-for-4 with a walk, scoring three times and driving in three.  He is batting .338.  Chris Williams was 3-for-5 with a walk and three runs.  Ryan Jeffers was 2-for-4 with a home run (his third), a double, and two walks.  He scored three times and drove in two and is batting .398.  Michael Helman was 2-for-4 and is batting .625.  DaShawn Keirsey was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs and is batting .345.  Trevor Casanova was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs and is batting .317.

Brian Rapp pitched four innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk and striking out two.  His ERA is 2.40.  Austin Schulfer pitched five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and a walk and striking out three.

GCL RED SOX 1, GCL TWINS 0 AT TWINS

Ivan Houellemont doubled home the game's only run in the seventh inning.  The Twins had just three hits, all singles.

Kidany Salva was 1-for-3 and is batting .326.  LaRon Smith made his professional debut and was 0-for-4.

Tyler Benninghoff struck out four in four shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  Denny Bentley struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  Erik Cha pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one.  His ERA remains zero in 7.2 innings.  Osiris German struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  His ERA is 2.53. Tanner Howell struck out two in a perfect inning.  His ERA is 0.75.
