Minor Details: Games of July 21

No offense for the Red Wings until it was too late.  Brent Rooker leads the Lookouts.  Alex Kirilloff has another good game.  A solid start for Blayne Enlow.  Michael Helman gets a big home run for the E-Twins.  The GCL Twins lose it late.  The DSL Twins score early and often.

NORFOLK 5, ROCHESTER 3 IN ROCHESTER

The Tides opened the game with a three-run first, with two of the runs scoring on a Luis Sardinas double.  It was 5-0 before the Red Wings scored all three of their runs in the eighth.  They did not get the tying run on base.

Gregorio Petit was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Jordan Pacheco was 2-for-4.  Miguel Sano was 0-for-3 with a walk but apparently hit the ball hard twice.

Fernando Romero pitched well after the first inning.  He went 7.2 innings, giving up five runs on seven hits and three walks and striking out three.  His ERA is 2.66.  Tyler Duffey struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and two walks.  His ERA is 2.44.

CHATTANOOGA 12, MOBILE 10 IN MOBILE (11 INNINGS)

The Lookouts trailed 2-0, 6-1, and 7-4 before tying it 7-7 on a Mitchell Kranson eighth-inning single.  Each team scored once in the tenth.  In the eleventh, Brent Rooker's two-run double capped a four-run inning.  The BayBears got two in the bottom of the inning and had the tying run on base when the game ended.

Rooker was 3-for-6 with two doubles and a walk, driving in three.  Zander Wiel was 3-for-6 with two doubles and a walk, scoring four times.  He is batting .309.  Kranson was 2-for-6 with a double and a walk, driving in two.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 2-for-6.  Jaylin Davis was 2-for-7 with a triple.  Jordan Gore was 1-for-2 with a triple and three walks, driving in three.  He is batting .323.

Dietrich Enns pitched five innings, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks and striking out three.  Sam Clay struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up a run and a hit.

LAKELAND 8, FORT MYERS 2 IN FORT MYERS

Back-to-back four-run innings, in the fourth and fifth, put the game out of reach.  The Miracle scored both of their runs in the seventh on Ben Rortvedt's two-run homer.

Alex Kirilloff was 3-for-4 and is batting .339.  Rortvedt was 1-for-4 and the home run was his third.  Royce Lewis was 0-for-4 and is batting .313.

Andro Cutura struck out four in 3.2 innings, but allowed four runs on six hits and two walks.  Adam Bray struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up only a walk.  His ERA is 1.15.  Hector Lujan pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  His ERA is 2.91.

CEDAR RAPIDS 7, LANSING 5 IN LANSING

The Kernels scored six in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead.  The Lugnuts pulled within 7-5 in the eighth but did not get the tying run on base.

Jean Carlos Arias was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fifth) and a triple, driving in two.  Jared Akins was 2-for-4.  Robby Rinn was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and is batting .311.

Blayne Enlow pitched six innings, giving up two unearned runs on three hits and a walk and striking out four.

ELIZABETHTON 7, PRINCETON 6 IN ELIZABETHTON

The Twins trailed 6-3 after four, but scored two in the fifth and two in the sixth and made it stand up.  Michael Helman's two-run homer drove in the tying and lead runs.  The Rays did not get a hit after the fifth inning.

Ryan Jeffers was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice.  He is batting .422.  Helman was 2-for-4 with a home run and is batting .389.  Ricky De La Torre was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second.  Chris Williams was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer (his ninth) and two walks.  He also scored twice.

Josh Winder pitched four innings, allowing six runs on eight hits and a walk and striking out two.  Pedro Garcia struck out five in four innings, giving up one hit and four walks.  Seth Pinkerton struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up a walk.

GCL RED SOX 7, GCL TWINS 6 AT RED SOX (10 INNINGS)

The Twins scored two in the eighth to take a 6-4 lead, but Chad Hardy hit a two-run homer in the ninth to tie it.  Juan Carlos Abreu's single-plus-error brought home the deciding run in the tenth.

LaRon Smith was 3-for-4 with a walk and is batting .308.  Yeison Perez was 2-for-3 with a double.

Andriu Marin pitched four innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks and striking out three.  Frandy Torres struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk.  Junior Navas pitched a scoreless innings, giving up a hit and striking out one.

DSL TWINS 14, DSL NATIONALS 6 AT TWINS

The Twins scored three in each of the first three innings and added two in the fourth and sixth to build a 13-1 lead.

Victor Heredia was 4-for-6 with a home run (his fifth) and a double, scoring twice and driving in three.  He is batting .379.  Brahiap Carrillo was 3-for-4 with two triples and two walks, driving in two.  He is batting .320.  Jesus Feliz was 3-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring twice.  He is batting .307.  Wander Valdez was 2-for-5 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Nomar Urdaneta was 2-for-6 with two runs and two RBIs.  Felix Reyes was 0-for-2 and is now 0-for-5 in 2018.

Jose Bermudez struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up one run on two hits and a walk.  Yolby Guzman struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
