Minor Details: Games of August 4

Willians Astudillo keeps hitting for the Red Wings.  Jaylin Davis keeps hitting for the Lookouts.  Mark Contreras hits a walkoff for the Miracle.  Ryan Jeffers keeps hitting for the Kernels.  A walkoff wild pitch-plus-error sinks the E-Twins.  The GCL Twins died with their boots.  MIguel Rodriguez pitches well for the DSL Twins.

PAWTUCKET 8, ROCHESTER 1 IN PAWTUCKET

The Red Sox scored four in the second and four in the eighth.  The lone Red Sox run scored on a Taylor Motter single in the seventh.

Willians Astudillo was 2-for-4.  Johnny Field was 1-for-4 and is batting .339.

Aaron Slegers, on a rehab assignment, was the opener.  He pitched 1.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and no walks and striking out two.  Kohl Stewart came on to pitch 5.2 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks and striking out two.  He had pitched well for five innings, giving up all of the runs in his last inning of work.

MISSISSIPPI 6, CHATTANOOGA 2 IN CHATTANOOGA

It was 2-2 through seven, but the Braves broke it open with four in the eighth.  Alejandro Salazar had a two-run double in the inning.

Jaylin Davis was 3-for-4 with a double and two home runs, his third and fourth.  He is batting .303.  Zander Wiel was 1-for-4 and is batting .315.

Anthony Marzi was the opener, pitching 1.2 innings and giving up two runs on three hits and a walk.  Omar Bencomo the struck out seven in 5.1 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks.  Sam Clay pitched 1.2 perfect innings, striking out one.

FORT MYERS 1, FLORIDA 0 IN FORT MYERS

Mark Contreras homered with two out in the ninth for the game's only run.  The Fire Frogs had only one hit, a two-out single in the first.

Aaron Whitefield was 2-for-2.  Contreras was 1-for-4 and the home run was his seventh.  Ernie De La Trinidad was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .421.  Royce Lewis was 0-for-4 and is batting .303.

Andro Cutura struck out seven in seven shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  Adam Bray struck out two in two shutout innings.  His ERA is 1.21.

BELOIT 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Jesus Lage hit a two-run homer in the second to put the Snappers up 4-2.  The Kernels loaded the bases with none out in the third, but could only score one and that was as good as it got.  Jack Meggs homered for an insurance run in the sixth.

Ryan Jeffers was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk and is batting .366.  Akil Baddoo was 2-for-4 with a triple and scored twice.  Michael Davis was 1-for-4 with a double and is batting .316.

Jordan Balazovic struck out seven in six innings but allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk.  Jared Finkel struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up two hits.

PULASKI 1, ELIZABETHTON 0 IN PULASKI

A wild pitch-plus-throwing error brought Max Burt home from second with the game's only run with one out in the ninth.

Trevor Casanova was 3-for-4 and is batting .330.  Trevor Larnach was 2-for-3 with a walk and is batting .314.  Gilberto Celestino was 0-for-4 and is batting .450.  Robert Molina was 1-for-3 and is batting .357.  Alex Robles was 0-for-4 and is batting .319.  DaShawn Keirsey was 0-for-4 and is batting .317.

Austin Schulfer struck out four in four shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  His ERA is 2.63.  Carlos Suniaga pitched four shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks and striking out two.

GCL RED SOX 4, GCL TWINS 2 AT RED SOX

The runs came in twos.  The Red Sox scored two in the fourth and two in the fifth; the Twins scored two in the sixth.  The Twins made five errors, so only one of the Red Sox' runs was earned.

Tyler Webb was 1-for-4 and is batting .387.  Hunter Lee was 1-for-2 with two walks and is batting .313.

Landon Leach struck out four in four innings, giving up two unearned runs on three hits and a walk.  His ERA is 2.41.  J. T. Perez struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up two hits and a walk.  His ERA is 2.31.

DSL TWINS 10, DSL ANGELS 0 AT ANGELS

Leading 2-0, the Twins scored six in the second to put the game out of reach.  The Twins had only two hits in the inning, getting six walks, a hit batsman, a wild pitch, and a passed ball.

Jim Caceras was 2-for-5 with a triple and two runs.  Luis Milla was 2-for-5 with two runs and is batting .316.

Miguel Rodriguez struck out seven in four shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.  Giovahniey German pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks and striking out one.  Rafael Feliz pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.  Danny Moreno struck out two in a perfect inning.  His ERA is 1.45.
