Minor Details: Games of August 5

Fernando Romero had an excellent game for the Red Wings.  Jaylin Davis keeps hitting for the Lookouts.  A rough game for Bryan Sammons and the Miracle.  A big inning sinks the Kernels.  A good game for Colton Burns in an E-Twins loss.

ROCHESTER 6, PAWTUCKET 3 IN PAWTUCKET

This game was brought to you by the number three.  The Red Sox scored three in the first, the Red Wings tied it with three in the third, and then won it with three in the ninth.  Tyler Austin hit a two-run double in the third and Nick Gordon had a two-run single in the ninth.

Gregorio Petit was 2-for-4.  Austin was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.  Johnny Field was 1-for-4 and is batting .333.

Alan Busenitz was the opener and allowed three runs on three hits and no walks, striking out one in one inning.  Fernando Romero then came in and slammed the door, striking out eight in eight shutout innings and giving up four hits and no walks.  His ERA is 2.71.

CHATTANOOGA 9, MISSISSIPPI 2 IN CHATTANOOGA

It was tied 2-2 when the Lookouts put together a seven-run fourth.  They had no extra-base hits in the inning, getting six singles, two walks, and two errors.

Alex Perez was 3-for-5 with two runs.  Jaylin Davis was 2-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs and is batting .310.  Luis Arraez was 2-for-3 with two walks.  Zander Wiel was 2-for-6 and is batting .316.

Sean Poppen pitched five innings, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks and striking out four.  Andrew Vasquez struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  His ERA is 1.50.  Cody Stashak pitched two shutout innings, giving up four hits and striking out one.  His ERA is 2.96.

FLORIDA 7, FORT MYERS 3 IN FORT MYERS

Braxton Davidson hit a three-run homer in a four-run third that left the Fire Frogs up 5-0.  It was 6-0 before the Miracle got on the board with one in the seventh and two in the eighth.

Ryan Costello was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.  He is batting .333.  Taylor Grzelakowski was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Alex Kirilloff was 2-for-5 and is batting .370.

Bryan Sammons struck out four in three innings, but allowed five runs on five hits and two walks.  Alex Robinson struck out six in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

BELOIT 10, CEDAR RAPIDS 7 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels had leads of 3-0 and 6-3, but the Snappers scored seven in the eighth to take control of the game.  They had a home run, two doubles, two singles, two walks, and a hit batsman.

Gabriel Maciel was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.  Jacob Pearson was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.  Trey Cabbage was 2-for-4 with a double.  Ben Rodriguez was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.  Akil Baddoo was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.  Ryan Jeffers was 1-for-4 with a home run (his third) and scored twice.  He is batting .356.  Michael Davis was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  He is batting .317.

Jhoan Duran struck out nine in 6.1 innings, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk.  Moises Gomez pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.

PULASKI 6, ELIZABETHTON 5 IN PULASKI (10 INNINGS)

The Twins led 5-1 after four, but the Yankees scored two in the fifth and two in the sixth to tie it 5-5.  The Twins had the bases loaded with one out in the tenth, but a double play ended the inning.  In the bottom of the tenth, Carlos Tatis singled home the deciding run.

Colton Burns was 3-for-4 with two doubles.  Gilberto Celestino was 2-for-5, lowering his average to .440.  Alex Robles was 1-for-4 and is batting .317.  Andrew Cosgrove was 1-for-3 with a double and is batting .300.  Trevor Casanova was 0-for-1 and is batting .327.

Josh Winder struck out eight in five innings, giving up three runs on five hits and no walks.  Tanner Howell pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.
