  1. I hope you enjoyed the minor league updates last night--I know I did. I won't be able to do them tonight--Wednesday is my busiest day other than Sunday, and maybe even including Sunday. I hope to do them again Thursday.

  2. I’m on the road at the mothership for training at my new job. Knowing next-to-nothing is both terrifying and exciting, this is the most out of my comfort zone in about 15 years. That was really early in my career, so expectations are a little higher this time around.

  3. regardless of the vital contest between voice-over performances, Michael Rand's take on why Bux didn't "deserve" a September callup was ridiculously bad. Dude, are you on Falvey's payroll?

    1. I try to avoid searching out anything from any Strib writer, but I was curious. "He needs to prove he can stay healthy before he can get a chance to prove he can stay healthy" is some next level stupid assery.

  4. The Elimination number for both the Sox and the Tigs is 2. But since they're both playing each other, the AL Central can't become a two-team race until after tomorrow's Clevelands-Royals game at the earliest.

  5. A thing I just heard from the (admittedly inexperienced) bartender at a reasonably nice restaurant down in wattsy’s neck of the woods: “You need a Patrón ...right? Wait, that’s a brandy ... yeah? /pause/ No? Hmph... okay.”

  6. Minor league update:

Jose Miranda hit a two-run homer in the third to put the Miracle up 2-0. Palm Beach got one back in the bottom of the third but left the tying run on third. The Cardinals loaded the bases in the fourth and had men on second and third in the fifth but did not score. A sacrifice fly plated an insurance run for Fort Myers in the sixth. Palm Beach put men on first and third in the eighth, but did no more. Fort Myers wins 3-1 and wins the series 2-0! They will play the winner of the Clearwater/Daytona series for the Florida State League championship.

Princeton scored first against Elizabethton, getting an RBI single from Osmy Gregorio in the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. Elizabethton tied it in the fourth on an RBI double by DaShawn Keirsey, Jr. The Twins had men on first and third, but could not take the lead. There was no more scoring until the eighth, when Yunior Severino was hit by a pitch, was bunted to second, and scored on a double by Gilberto Celestino to put Elizabethton up 2-1. The Rays went down in order in the ninth. Elizabethton wins the series 2-0 and wins the Appalachian League Championship!

In anti-climax, Cedar Rapids at Beloit was rained out.
