Minor Details: Games of September 8

Griffin Jax and a big first inning carry the Miracle.  David Banuelos' good game isn't enough as the Kernels' bullpen falters.

FORT MYERS 12, DAYTONA 2 IN FORT MYERS

The Miracle scored eight runs in the first inning and were never threatened.  They drew three walks in the inning, were helped with an error, and got a three-run homer from Royce Lewis.

Travis Blankenhorn was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring three times and driving in two.  Ryan Costello was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Jose Miranda was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.  Alex Kirilloff was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs.  Taylor Grzelakowski was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs.  Lewis was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer, scoring twice.

Griffin Jax pitched 6.2 innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk and striking out one.  Kevin Marnon pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Fort Myers takes a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

PEORIA 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels led 2-0 through seven, but the Chiefs scored three in the eighth.  Cedar Rapids tied it in the bottom of the eighth, but Nick Dunn delivered a two-run single to put Peoria ahead to stay.

David Banuelos was 3-for-4 with two doubles.  Michael Helman was 2-for-5.

Bryan Sammons struck out six in six shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks.

Cedar Rapids trails the best-of-three series 1-0.
