  1. I can't tell whether "You Vike That" stuff would a hilarious failure or an annoying success.

I've still got a "Smell Em" shirt, after all.

  2. Elder Daughter and BFF were at Wrigley last night, attending the Fall Out Boy concert. I remember taking her to her first Fall Out Boy concert at the X ten or twelve years ago. Life moves pretty fast.

  3. I've never met anyone who was polled by a national agency, and then Friday I got a call from quinnipiac univsersity. I just completed the poll, and it was a bit of a bizarre experience. I'll be looking for the next national poll data. Some really funny questions, too.

    1. It occurred to me as I was answering poll questions that I had no idea I’d the organization on the phone was who they said they were.
I suppose the risks aren’t huge, but these days...

      1. Yeah, I had the feeling like my name was being added to a list....

Then I remembered that I googled the phone number and it came back from the university. So, yeah. Still a little jarring.

  4. Fort Myers trails Daytona 1-0 in the bottom of the second. Tyler Stephenson had a run-scoring double. Fort Myers leads the series 2-0 and would win the league championship with one more win.
Peoria scored five runs in the third and leads Cedar Rapids 5-0. They had a walk, a single, a hit batsman, three more singles, and a wild pitch. Cedar Rapids is batting in the fourth. Peoria leads the series 1-0 and would move on to the league championship series with a win.

  5. Fort Myers now trails Daytona 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth. Alfredo Rodriguez delivered an RBI single.
Cedar Rapids continues to trail 5-0 in the seventh. The Kernels have had just four hits so far.

  6. Royce Lewis homers in the fifth. Fort Myers now trails by just 2-1 through 4 1/2.
Not looking good for the Kernels. Still down 5-0, now going to the bottom of the eighth.

  7. On the Grill tonight: Smoked chicken, roasted carrots and a big salad. It's still so hot here that turning on the oven pained me.

  8. Daughter and friends at concert at the armory. Wife and I visiting our U of M freshman son. Ended up at BW3 to watch football. Not sure this was a good idea.

            1. Honestly, I have been struggling with that place in particular since we started travel hockey 10 years ago. I do now struggle more with places that miss some obvious details. Dirty bathrooms, multiple burnt out lights, cigarette butts all over the parking lot, etc. And... I would say I am tougher on the chains than the independents.

        1. I'd sit around after my shifts playing with the old alcoholic priest that frequented the joint. He'd kill me on the classical stuff, but I was obviously better on the modern music and pop culture. About even on the sciences. Good times...

          1. I'd sit around after my shifts playing with the old alcoholic priest The last 5 restaurants I have worked in has had one of these. Interesting.

            1. I got a kick out of the guys from the seminary down the way that would pop in occasionally to drink whiskey and smoke cigarettes for a few hours at a time.

  9. Lewis homered again in the eighth to cut the margin to 3-2 and the Miracle had the tying run on second with two out, but in the bottom of the eighth Daytona scored three to put it out of reach. Rodriguez had a two-run triple in the inning. Fort Myers still leads the best-of-five series 2-1.
All the runs were scored in the five-run third inning as Peoria defeated Cedar Rapids 5-0. That ends the season for the Kernels. Peoria will go on to the league championship series.
