  1. Arkivdigital has their Swedish records for free access this weekend again, and while I have pretty much exhausted all of my family lines there (at least the easier stuff), I found a household record for my daughter's godmother's family. Looking forward to showing her how to use it to follow the bread crumbs. All I had to work from was a screenshot from the front two pages of a family bible, which had a name and home town, plus that it was presented to her in early 1888 from the Castle Garden mission (Castle Garden was the predecessor to Ellis Island).

If you have relatives from Sweden and want a little help trying to research it, it's free this weekend and I'd be happy to lend a hand to get you started.

  2. The Wild look pretty good right now (8 wins in their last 10, second best record in the West).

Even Russo grudgingly admitted that they are playing good hockey in his recap of last night's steamrolling of the Ducks.

    1. My initial reaction is I like this deal for both teams. Obviously, the Wolves had to do something, and they get 2 legit shooters out of this. The Wolves might have the league's best shooting frontcourt now, at least the 4-5 spots. Covington is a great defender as well. Saric got off to a bad start this year but was shooting better the last couple games. It will be interesting to see if one of the new guys come off the bench or if they force Gibson to come off the bench. Either way, it will definitely lengthen the bench. Hopefully, Thibs will be more willing to use them. This definitely gives the 76ers a legit Big 3. We'll see how the personalities mesh. Butler won't need to worry about Embiid and Simmons playing D.

  3. I'm gonna miss Joe, there was just too much to appreciate about his game. I will be forever glad I tuned into that last game of the season.

  4. So Mrs. Twayn got a good deal on an Instant Pot. First meal was pork tenderloin. I was excited to learn we could cook the tenderloin in just 7 minutes. Less excited to learn that didn't include the 5 minute warm up and 15 minute cool down times. But the meat was very tender and tasty. I want to try some bean soup next, maybe my Navy bean or some good Cuban black bean.

  5. Back from the Homeland at last.

Wildlife sighting tally on the drive: one coyote, two eagles, a few deer, a couple dozen assorted hawks, and a bazillion pronghorn antelope.

Route: various Minnesota highways to I-90 to I-25, south through Sioux City, west through various parts of Nebraska (overnight in the ancestral Homeland of Wayne, then through Norfolk, Columbus, etc. to I-80) to Cheyenne, Salt Lake City, Reno and home).
