Minor Details: Games of April 9

Twins affiliates don't seem to have done very well while I was gone.

SYRACUSE 7, ROCHESTER 5 IN SYRACUSE

A six-run third, highlighted by Tim Tebow's two-run double, turned a 5-1 deficit into a 7-5 victory for Syracuse.

Batting stars:  Wynston Sawyer was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs.  John Andreoli was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Adam Rosales was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Zander Weil was 2-for-5 with a double.  Luke Raley was 2-for-5 with two runs.  Randy Cesar was 2-for-5.

Pitching stars:  Fernando Romero struck out four in 3.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.  Jake Reed struck out three in two perfect innings.

Opposition star:  Tomas Nido was 2-for-3 with a double.

Notes:  Kohl Stewart pitched 2.2 innings, allowing seven runs (one earned) on seven hits and a walk and striking out three.

Sawyer is batting .800.  Cesar is batting .333.  Romero's ERA is zero.  Because all the third-inning runs were unearned, Stewart's ERA is 2.25.

Record:  The Red Wings are 1-5, in sixth (last) place, four games behind Syracuse.

Lewin Diaz singled home the game's only run with one out in the ninth.

David Garza hit a two-run double in a three-run fifth that put the Cougars up 3-0.

Batting stars:  Chris Williams was 3-for-4.  Trey Cabbage was 3-for-4.  Gilberto Celestino was 2-for-5 with a double.

Pitching star:  Tyler Palm struck out four in four innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks.

Opposition star:  Jackson Goddard pitched five innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks and striking out five.

Notes:  Luis Rijo pitched five innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk and striking out six.

Cabbage is batting .471.  Williams is batting .375.

Palm has an ERA of 1.29.
