April 18, 2019: Sickos

Family is sick. Per usual, I’m not, so I’m running around taking care of everyone.

Does your family get sick at once? Is there one caretaker member that always seems to avoid it? Or does everyone just take turns getting sick?

  1. We're a turn taking family. Also, we got a sternly worded letter from the school a month ago saying our kids are both at their max amount of excused absences for the year, so I'll probably be making sure to send them to school if they have a cough at any time during the rest of the year so the other kids get sick. Yes, I am very bitter that they sent me a letter about excused absences.

    1. new font in the basement?

It's probably 50/50 whether Mrs. Runner and I share with each other, and if Runner daughter isn't well she's persona non grata at the house and stays away.

We had glorious thunderboomers overnight, and that should give Oak levels a kick. My irritated eyes, throat, and sinuses meanwhile are suffering from the little time I spend outside when doing my errands last night.

    2. In the aftermath of my dad's passing, my mom, my brothers, their wives, me, and my wife all got sick. Not all with the same thing, but we were all sick. We ended up postponing the funeral.

      1. It's 10 in ours, which seems comically low. Also, I would be willing to bet people calling in and saying their kid is sick when they really aren't isn't actually a problem.

    3. We got one of those truancy warning letters about The Girl. Who had missed s bunch of time because of a horrible upper respiratory infection. Who was also salutatorian (only because the Valedictorian gamed the GPA calculations by taking fewer credits). Who was also the town's only (two public and one private h.s.) National Merit Scholar.

      Yea, Eff them.

      1. So the Hausartz (onsite clinic doctor at work) said she thinks that there are a lot of 'superbugs' now out there because of people misusing medicine (i.e. not taking their full dosages, being prescribed stuff when they shouldn't, etc.) and creating new variations of diseases that are now more resistant to our meds. Mine was nasty as it started fast (2/15), and hung on long (4/5).

    1. Is April 19th some kind of railroad holiday? John Henry’s birthday? Casey Jones Memorial Day? The Golden Spike sesquicentennial isn’t until May 10th...

      1. Dr. Chop got today and tomorrow but no Monday. Some catholic universities don’t care for Easter Monday.

        1. Some catholic universities don’t care for Easter Monday They should. That's when the apostles all went out out to look for colored eggs and chocolate rabbits.

    2. Not me. Easter is weird in my company. They don't pay us for religious holidays, because folks would naturally be weird about that, but when we lost Thanksgiving, that's the day we gained that was closed across the company. So, I guess it's the holiday that we both hold in high esteem and also pretend to ignore?

We only close on Easter and Christmas, so we'll be open on all these surrounding days. I work tomorrow but not Saturday, which weather-wise is looking like the jackpot.

  2. DeMarcus Cousins is an excellent player and the Warriors may miss him eventually. But Andrew Bogut.... Dude clearly is healthy again. He is mobile, active, quick, and a force on the floor.

He never looked this mobile and comfortable in his first stint with the Dubs.

    1. Probably makes for some potential matchup issues without DMC, but ultimately I don’t think it will matter.
