ROCHESTER 8, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 1 IN ROCHESTER

Brent Rooker hit a home run in a three-run fourth that put the Red Wings up 4-1.

Batting stars:  LaMonte Wade was 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, and three RBIs.  Ronald Torreyes was 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, and two RBIs.  Tomas Telis was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs.  Rooker was 2-for-5 with a home run, his fourth.

Pitching stars:  Lewis Thorpe struck out twelve in eight innings, giving up one run on three hits and no walks.  Preston Guilmet pitched a perfect inning.

Opposition star:  Gosuke Katoh was 1-for-4 with a home run, his fifth.

Stats:  Randy Cesar was 1-for-5 with two RBIs and is batting .333.  Telis is batting .303.  Wade is batting .302.

In his first two starts, Thorpe allowed fifteen earned runs in 8.2 innings.  In his next two starts, he has allowed three earned runs in 13.2 innings.  He has struck out twenty-four in his last two starts.

Record:  The Red Wings are 7-11, in fifth place in the International League North, 6.5 games behind Lehigh Valley.

MOBILE 1, PENSACOLA 0 IN PENSACOLA

Brandon Marsh's RBI single in the third plated the game's only run.

Pitching stars:  Devin Smeltzer struck out nine in seven innings, giving up one run on six hits and no walks.  Jeff Ames struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up only a walk.

Opposition star:  Jeremy Beasley struck out five in five shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks.

Stats:  Luis Arraez was 1-for-4 and is batting .338.  Jaylin Davis was 1-for-4 and is batting .302.  Smeltzer has an ERA of 0.72.

Record:  The Blue Wahoos are 13-6, in first place in the Southern League South, two games ahead of Biloxi.

FORT MYERS 2, BRADENTON 1 IN BRADENTON

Akil Baddoo homered in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.

Batting star:  Baddoo was 1-for-4 with a home run, his third.

Pitching stars:  Bryan Sammons pitched 5.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and three walks and striking out four.  Calvin Faucher pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up one walk and striking out two.  Tom Hackimer struck out four in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a walk.

Opposition stars:  Max Kranick pitched six innings, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks and striking out five.

Stats:  It was the first run Sammons has given up this season.  His ERA is 0.42.  Faucher has an ERA of 2.61.  Hackimer has an ERA of zero.

Record:  The Miracle is 12-7, tied for second in the Florida State League South with Bradenton, two games behind Palm Beach.

WISCONSIN 9, CEDAR RAPIDS 0 IN WISCONSIN (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

David Fry hit a two-run homer in a three-run first and the Timber Rattlers led all the way.

Batting star:  Michael Davis was 1-for-2 and had the lone Kernel hit.

Pitching star:  Derek Molina retired the only batter he faced.

Opposition star:  Aaron Ashby struck out ten in five shutout innings, giving up no hits and three walks.

Stats:  Gabriel Maciel was 0-for-1 with two walks and is batting .389.  Trey Cabbage was 0-for-2 with a walk and is batting .333.

Record:  The Kernels are 7-10.

CEDAR RAPIDS 7, WISCONSIN 6 IN WISCONSIN (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Hunter Lee homered as part of a four-run fourth that put the Kernels up 7-3.

Batting stars:  Trey Cabbage was 3-for-4 with a home run (his sixth), two runs, and two RBIs.  Gabriel Maciel was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs.  Andrew Bechtold was 2-for-4.

Pitching stars:  Austin Schulfer struck out seven in three innings of relief, giving up one run on two hits and three walks.  Joe Record recorded two strikeouts in 1.1 perfect innings.

Opposition star:  Chad McClanahan was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two walks, and two RBIs.

Stats:  Maciel is batting .429.  Gabe Snyder was 1-for-4 and is batting .364.  Cabbage is batting .362.  Schulfer has an ERA of 2.45.  Record has an ERA of zero.  If he did that all season, that would be a record.

Record:  The Kernels are 8-10, fifth in the MIdwest League Western, 3.5 games behind Burlington and Kane County.
