April 29, 2019: Creepy Crawling Workers

The boy made a "worm bin" at a recent Earth Day celebration. It's basically exactly what it sounds like. Once we get it going, it should take care of most of our appropriate food waste. Unlike a compost bin, it seems so weird to me to have a bunch of worms going to town for us, but kind of cool too.

    1. And by no small margin. Having slightly above league average pitching goes along nicely with the non-ass bats.

    2. Yay, Orioles!

The Twins hit 23 home runs in 51 innings against the Orioles this year. I'm pretty sure Baltimore is going to bribe the schedule makers to leave us off the 2020 schedule.

      1. If the Twins can hit 293/347/684 against Orioles' pitching, either the Twins are an historically great offensive team OR the Orioles are gonna get punished all season long. I know which one I think is closer to the truth.

        1. The O's have occasionally played well against some good teams (took a series in Boston), but the Twins at least sure seem to have their number.

          1. If they had, say, split the season series with the Twins, they'd be just a couple games below .500

I do think they are a truly terrible team, but they haven't played other teams quite the same way they've played the Twins.

  1. There is a documentary series on Netflix called Remastered that looks at some issues surrounding musicians that is pretty interesting. Crime related stuff for Bob Marley and Sam Cooke, a straight out background on Robert Johnson (which is quite good) and a fascinating documentary on when Richard Nixon invited Johnny Cash to the White House. It is highly recommended even if you aren't a huge Johnny Cash fan as this almost more about politics than it is music. I can't recommend highly enough .

    1. I had this pop into my recommended list, and I’ll make a point of checking it out after I finish the new season of Bosch. Thanks for reminding me, free.

      1. Dido (though still playing catch-up on Bosch - currently 2 episodes into the 3rd season).

  2. UP Big Boy 4014 will soon make its return to the tracks in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the golden spike. Here it got its whistle back and they began sounding it for the first time since I was a few months old. During the test period, it's reminiscent of a someone learning to speak all over again, and the whistle gets more throaty and full sounding as the video goes along

It's going to be a treat seeing this monster running the network soon.

  3. I hate the Rockets. I hate the "gather step" step-back. I hate the "flail your legs to draw a foul" shots. I hope they go away soon.

      1. Crossing fingers!

I think the NBA needs to clarify rules on giving a player space to land. That shouldn't include a 10 foot diameter from where they took off.

        1. Aye.

A couple of times, Warrior defenders did indeed get away with interfering with the shooter's landing space. But in others, Harden would have fallen on his butt because he'd kicked his feet out so far in front of his center of gravity.

          1. My personal favorite was the one where Livingston touched Paul's hand and he flopped backwards like he got shot in the face. It should have been a foul, but if I was a ref I'd be like "screw that guy."

  4. If the Twins hit 5 home runs tonight, I'll do something dumb, like drink Busch Light.

  5. Heh.
