2019 Game 35: Minnesota Twins at Toronto Blue Jays

Kyle Gibson
vs
Trent Thornton

Gibson hopes to keep the good vibes going with another shutout tonight.

Opposing that is Thornton in his rookie campaign. He's done well this year. He strikes out a bunch of guys, walks way more than Rhu_Ru finds comfortable, and gives up some home runs. He lost his first start against the Twins in April. Let's make that two losses against the Twins!

  1. Gibson with a shutout might be asking a bit much. I'll take a quality start and put some faith in the offense.

    1. I've still not forgiven him for that missed fair/foul call vs the Yankees in the playoffs some years back........

      1. Yeah, that'll always be on the back of my mind. But then I try to think, well, at least it isn't angel hernandez out there.

  2. Im worried this team doesn't know how to manufacture runs. It's nothing but the long ball.........

    1. I don't think it matters. They've been shut out once. It's a lot easier to score if you don't rely on at least three singles or walks in one inning.

                  1. Woohoo!

(All I really wanted when I made that comment was a buck from Philo...)

                    1. No love for the Socratic Burrito Method, I see. (That would be a good band name).

    1. I like how if a simple majority of us agrees, it's gonna happen. No chance of an electoral college screwing this one up!

  3. Mariners halfway into a no-hitter against the Yankees. All the wishes in the world they complete it.

      1. He moved to the side to avoid the tag because of the wide throw and his momentum took him last the bag, so he turned and reached down to touch first then immediately stood back up and continued walking past it.

  4. Haven't been in the gamelog, but I'd been watching the game on one of the sports bar's big screens. Good Gibby and a hit barrage -- a plethora of riches. While 11+ Ks might annoy me, it's barely noticeable in this runaway.

  5. My brother & I are having an exchange about this roster and how it compares to some squads of the past. Both of us agree we’re seeing something pretty special in this group of guys.

      1. Aquinas tonight: So the Twins have had really good luck then? Or maybe they're better, but they're not normally this good, right?

  6. The Canadian broadcast crew just said that these twins are "for real" folks. Kiss of death, or the real mutha-effin' truth ?

  7. I'm looking ahead... end of May has 2 against the Brewers, 4 against the Rays, 3 at Cleveland. If they make it through that...

I can't help but be nervously optimistic. Beats reluctant cynicism though
