Minor Details: Games of May 8

It looks like Twins affiliates have done well in my absence, for the most part.

ROCHESTER 7, TOLEDO 1 IN ROCHESTER

John Andreoli hit a two-run homer in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie.

Batting stars:  Zander Weil was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs.  Brent Rooker was 2-for-4 with two runs.  Jordany Valdespin was 2-for-4.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.  Andreoli was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer (his third) and a walk, scoring twice.

Pitching stars:  Zack Littell struck out seven in six innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and three walks.  Tyler Duffey struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  Austin Adams struck out two in a perfect inning.

Opposition star:  John Schreiber pitched two perfect innings and struck out one.

Stats:  Gordon is batting .417.  Valdespin is batting .338.  Duffey has an ERA of 1.32.

Record:  The Red Wings are 13-17, fourth in the International League North, 5.5 games ahead of Lehigh Valley.

PENSACOLA 1, MISSISSIPPI 0 IN MISSISSIPPI

Luis Arraez had an RBI single in the fourth for the games only run.

Batting stars:  Jordan Gore was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Arraez was 2-for-5.

PItching stars:  Brusdar Graterol pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk and striking out three.  Tom Hackimer struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and three walks.  Sam Clay pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.  Ryan Mason struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up two hits.

Opposition star:  Drew Waters was 3-for-3.

Stats:  Arraez is batting .341.  Graterol has an ERA of 1.91.  Hackimer has an ERA of zero.  Mason has an ERA of zero.

Record:  The Blue Wahoos are 22-11, first in the Southern League South, five games ahead of Mississippi.

FORT MYERS 4, CHARLOTTE 3 IN FORT MYERS

Michael Helman's RBI single brought home the deciding run in the seventh.

Batting stars:  Lewin Diaz was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.  Jose Miranda was 2-for-4.

Pitching stars:  Melvi Acosta pitched 4.1 innings of relief, giving up one run on five hits and no walks and striking out four.  Anthony Vizcaya pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and striking out one.

Opposition star:  Garrett Whitley was 2-for-3 with a walk.

Stats:  Diaz is batting .315.

Record:  The Miracle is 22-11, first in the Florida State League South, 1.5 games ahead of Bradenton.

SOUTH BEND 2, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN SOUTH BEND

A throwing error brought home the deciding run in the bottom of the ninth.

Batting star:  Gabriel Maciel was 2-for-4 with a triple.

Pitching stars:  Andrew Cabezas pitched 6.2 innings, giving up one run on six hits and two walks and striking out three.  Zach Neff struck out three in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition star:  Eury Ramos struck out seven in five shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks.

Stats:  Gabe Snyder was 1-for-2 with a walk and is batting .319.

Record:  The Kernels are 14-18, sixth in the Midwest League Western, 7.5 games behind Quad Cities.
