2019 Game 26: Tigers @ Twins

You know what I think was a good decision? Letting Ron Gardenhire go. I mean that in the nicest way possible. He seems like a nice enough fella, and he's pretty funny at times. But man, I'm just not worried about a team he's managing. Ron Gardenhire returns with his Tigers to Minnesota inspires... I dunno... maybe sympathy?

True story... google "Tigers Manager". The photo that pops up is of Ron Gardenhire. In a Twins cap. Anyway, let's hope that's how the Twins own the Tigers this weekend too.

Tyson Ross goes for the Tigers tonight against Odorizzi, whose name often makes me think of "Rizzo", which actually makes me think of both the rat and the character from Grease, and then later on it dawns on me that there's a ballplayer by that name too. Alright, I think that's my cue to step aside. Let's keep the winning streak going tonight!

  1. Odoreater didn't fool a lot of people, but he got out of it. Maybe he'll get locked in.

  2. Re: the introduction above, if there's one thing we know about the Tigers, it's that they're going to battle their tails off.

      1. Haven't seen it.

But the bricks were kind of the point I was making... I don't associate Odorizzi with good things yet. Hopefully that changes. Well, Rizzo the rat is pretty awesome, but... he's a rat.

  3. In my opinion, the Subway carnival barker ad has become even more annoying than This Is An Ad About Twins Tickets.

  4. They've announced that tomorrow it will be Michael Pineda in game one and Kohl Stewart in game two. Sounds like a sweep to me!

    1. I'm too lazy to look up platoon splits to see if that is helping either catcher. But I do wonder if each having plenty of rest is helping.

      1. This is Garver's 20th game catching compared to 15 for Castro.

Here are their splits. Garver is just destroying everything. There's been almost zero PAs against lefties for anyone though.

Player Split PA BA OBP SLG
        Castro RHP 45 .243 .378 .622
        Castro LHP 5 .250 .400 .250
        Garver RHP 56 .300 .375 .720
        Garver LHP 15 .533 .533 .800
    1. Amazingly, they aren't the only ones. I don't even know what's going on this year, but it's amazing.

      1. I saw a little blurb that said that Rocco seems to be using him perfectly (ie, taking him out with really good timing, as his "third time through the order" numbers are horrible).

His numbers have been great, and it's not like he's barely averaging 5 innings a start like Mejia was that one year.

  5. Farm report: Not a good night for Twins affiliates.

Rochester trails Durham 11-8 in the ninth.
    Pensacola lost to Mississippi 4-1.
Fort Myers was trailing Tampa 5-2 in the fifth when the game was suspended. The second game was postponed.
Cedar Rapids trails West Michigan 8-1 in the ninth.
