A bad night for Twins affiliates.

DURHAM 11, ROCHESTER 8 IN ROCHESTER

The Bulls scored five in the second and led the rest of the way.  The Red Wings got within one at 6-5 and 9-8.

Batting stars:  Luke Raley was 3-for-4 with a home run (his eighth) and a double, scoring twice and driving in three.  Jordany Valdespin was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs.  Tomas Telis was 2-for-4.  Brent Rooker was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

Pitching star:  D. J. Baxendale struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition star:  Michael Brosseau was 4-for-5 with two home runs (his sixth and seventh) and three RBIs.

Stats:  Valdespin is batting .351.  Nick Gordon was 0-for-5 and is batting .345.  Raley is batting .300.

Record:  The Red Wings are 13-18, fourth in the International League North, 5.5 games behind Syracuse.

MISSISSIPPI 4, PENSACOLA 1 IN MISSISSIPPI

Andy Wilkins hit a two-run homer in the first and the Braves led all the way.

Batting stars:  Jordan Gore was 2-for-3 with a double.  Taylor Grzelakowski was 2-for-4.

Pitching stars:  Cody Stashak struck out four in two perfect innings.

Opposition stars:  Wilkins was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his second and third) and three RBIs.  Kyle Muller pitched seven innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks and striking out six.

Stats:  Luis Arraez was 1-for-4 and is batting .338.  Griffin Jax pitched six innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and no walks and striking out two, and has an ERA of 1.35.  Stashak has an ERA of 1.59.

Record:  The Blue Wahoos are 23-12, first in the Southern League South, five games ahead of Mississippi.

TAMPA AT FORT MYERS (GAME 1)

The game was suspended in the fifth inning with Tampa leading 5-2.  Akil Baddoo was 2-for-3.  Lewin Diaz and Ryan Costello each homered.

TAMPA AT FORT MYERS (GAME 2)

Rained out.

WEST MICHIGAN 8, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN WEST MICHIGAN

The Whitecaps scored six in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie.

Batting stars:  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Gilberto Celestino was 2-for-4.

Pitching star:  Brian Rapp struck out three in three innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks.

Opposition star:  Wilkel Hernandez pitched six innings, giving up one run on seven hits and two walks and striking out three.

Stats:  Gabe Snyder was 1-for-4 and is batting  .321.  Rapp has an ERA of 2.95.  Austin Schulfer pitched two innings, giving up one run on one hit and two walks and striking out one, to make his ERA 2.38.

Record:  The Kernels are 15-19, sixth in the Midwest League Western, 7.5 games behind Quad Cities.
