Minor Details: Games of May 14

Debuts for Luis Arraez and Ben Rortvedt.  Brusdar Graterol stays on track.  Miguel Sano has a solid game.

CHARLOTTE 13, ROCHESTER 7 IN CHARLOTTE

The Knights scored six in the eighth to break a 7-7 tie.

Batting stars:  Drew Maggi was 4-for-4 with a two-run homer (his second) and two runs.  Tomas Telis was 2-for-5 with a home run (his fourth) and two RBIs.  Luke Raley was 2-for-5.  Randy Cesar was 2-for-5.  Luis Arraez was 2-for-5.  Miguel Sano was 2-for-5.  LaMonte Wade was 1-for-5 with a home run, his second.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Paulo Orlando was 4-for-4 with two home runs and three runs.  Ross Detweiler struck out ten in six innings, giving up one run on seven hits and no walks.

Stats:  Arraez made his AAA debut and is batting .400.  Sano is batting .308 (4-for-13 with two doubles).  Raley is batting .304.  Cesar is batting .303.

Record:  The Red Wings are 14-20, tied for fourth in the International League North, six games behind Syracuse.

PENSACOLA 3, CHATTANOOGA 0 IN CHATTANOOGA

The Blue Wahoos scored one in the fifth and two in the eighth.

Batting starsMark Contreras was 2-for-4 with two doubles.  Jaylin Davis was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Travis Blankenhorn was 2-for-5.

Pitching stars:  Brusdar Graterol pitched five shutout innings, giving up three hits and two walks and striking out three.  Tom Hackimer pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  Cody Stashak struck out two in two perfect innings.

Opposition star:  Rob Wooten pitched five innings, giving up an unearned run on five hits and a walk and striking out three.

Stats:  Ben Rortvedt made his AA debut and went 1-for-3 with a walk.  He is batting .333.  Davis is batting .308.  Graterol has an ERA of 1.69.  Hackimer has an ERA of zero.  Stashak has an ERA of 1.42.

Record:  The Blue Wahoos are 25-14, first in the Southern League South, six games ahead of Biloxi.

FORT MYERS 8, BRADENTON 1 IN BRADENTON

Ryan Costello homered in a five-run third.

Batting stars:  Trey Cabbage is 3-for-5 with a triple.  Michael Helman is 3-for-5 with a double.  Aaron Whitefield was 2-for-4 with a double.  Royce Lewis was 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs.

Pitching stars:  Edwar Colina struck out ten in six innings, giving up one run on four hits and three walks.  Hector Lujan struck out four in two perfect innings.  Melvi Acosta pitched a scoreless inning, walking one.

Opposition star:  Robbie Glendinning was 2-for-3 with a double.

Stats:  Cabbage is batting .370.  Lewin Diaz was 1-for-5 and is batting .307.  Lujan has an ERA of 2.22.  Acosta has an ERA of 2.96.

Record:  The Miracle is 24-13, first in the Florida State League South, one game ahead of Palm Beach.

QUAD CITIES 11, CEDAR RAPIDS 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The River Bandits scored five in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

Batting star:  Chris Williams was 1-for-3 with a home run (his seventh) and a walk.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Emmanuel Valdez was 3-for-6 with a three-run homer (his third) and three runs.  Cody Deason struck out seven in five innings, giving up an unearned run on four hits and three walks.

Stats:  Gabe Snyder was 1-for-4 and is batting .323.

Record:  The Kernels are 16-22, seventh in the Midwest League Western, nine games behind Quad Cities.
