DURHAM 9, ROCHESTER 5 IN DURHAM

The Bulls scored four in the sixth to take an 8-2 lead.

Batting stars:  Jake Cave was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a  double.  LaMonte Wade was 2-for-4.  Wilin Rosario was 2-for-4.  Drew Maggi was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer, his third.

Pitching stars:  Gabriel Moya pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one.

Opposition star:  Ryan Yarbrough struck out ten in six innings, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks.

Stats:  Jordany Valdespin was 1-for-4 and is batting .348.  Maggi is batting .333.  Devin Smeltzer pitched 4.2 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and two walks and striking out three, and has an ERA of 1.83.

Record:  The Red Wings are 14-23, fifth in the International League North, 7.5 games behind Syracuse.

MOBILE 8, PENSACOLA 2 IN PENSACOLA

The BayBears scored three in the seventh to take a 6-2 lead.

Batting star:  Alex Kirilloff was 1-for-3 with a double and two walks.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition star:  Brandon Marsh was 3-for-5 with two doubles, scoring twice and driving in three.

Stats:  Ben Rortvedt was 1-for-4 and is batting .333.  Jaylin Davis was 0-for-3 with a walk and is batting .302.  Cody Stashak struck out three in two innings but allowed two runs on four hits and has an ERA of 2.14.

Record:  The Blue Wahoos are 26-16, first in the Southern League South, four games ahead of Biloxi.

ST. LUCIE 2, FORT MYERS 1 IN FORT MYERS (10 INNINGS)

Carlos Cortes doubled home the deciding run in the tenth.

Batting stars:  Lewin Diaz was 2-for-4.  Royce Lewis was 1-for-4 with a home run.

Pitching stars:  Tyler Watson pitched 7.1 innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk and striking out four.  Hector Lujan pitched 2.2 innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit and one walk and striking out two.

Opposition star:  Kevin Smith struck out six in six innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks.

Stats:  Diaz is batting .330.  Lujan has an ERA of 2.00.

Record:  The Miracle is 25-15, second in the Florida State League South, one game behind Palm Beach.

CEDAR RAPIDS 6, CLINTON 5 IN CLINTON (11 INNINGS)

The Kernels scored two in the eleventh and held on.

Batting star:  Jared Akins was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer (his third) and two runs.

Pitching stars:  Tyler Palm pitched six innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and no walks and striking out five.  Moises Gomez struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up a walk.

Opposition star:  Alberto Guerrero pitched 5.2 scoreless innings, giving up no runs on one hit and three walks and striking out one.

Stats:  Albee Weiss made his 2019 debut and went 1-for-3 with a walk for an average of .333.  Akins is 3-for-15 and all three hits have been home runs, giving him a slash line of .200/.200/.800.

Record:  The Kernels are 19-22, sixth in the Midwest League Western, seven games behind Quad Cities.
