  1. From Fevver Day, 2017:

    Yikes.

    AL Wins Above Average:
    Twins AP - 15th, -3.0
    Twins SP - 13th, -0.3
    Twins RP - 14th, -2.6

    1. Also from that day, the Twins called up Alex Wimmers and Randy Rosario. Wimmers appears to be out of baseball while Rosario is with the Cubs in AAA.

  2. It was weird having two days off, but it'll be nice to watch some Twins baseball again tonight.

  3. Next weekend I will be riding the MS 150 for the 8th time. Sadly, I haven't finished the ride the last two years.

Two years ago, I was caught in this storm. When I stopped in Rush City, a volunteer told me it was more than an hour away, so I thought I could make it to North Branch to ride it out. Instead, it began pouring about ten minutes after I left Rush City. Then straight line winds showed up and I was dodging limbs flying across the road. I was in the middle of a stretch of farms, so I kept riding. I reached Harris, and the owners of a local bar knew the ride was coming, and they were nice enough to open the bar to give us some shelter. I spent about an hour inside the bar with a bunch of other riders watching the news coverage of the storm and seeing that we were standing in the middle of the big red blob on the radar. It let up eventually, so I continued on my ride for another couple of miles only to be routed into a big, industrial farm building because there were downed power lines ahead, and they needed us off the route until they finally cleared it. I eventually made it to North Branch about 2 hours later than expected and by this point I was so soaked and my muscles had stiffened up from all the delays that I tapped out for the rest of the ride.

Last year, conditions were amazing and I rode at my best pace ever. Then, three miles from the finish, a friend of mine lost track of the route, turned into me (he thought it was a turn when we were supposed to go through an intersection) causing me to crash. I came out amazingly unscathed, but derailleur was broken beyond my capacity to fix it on the side of the road. Bummer.

Anyway, this year I vow to start a new streak of completing the entire ride. If you're interested, my support page is here. Any and all donations will be gladly accepted. Sadly, this past year has been the first one since Sheenie received her MS diagnosis in which she has actually seen an increase in the affects of MS in her daily life. Still, major advances have occurred lately, and I hope you may consider a small donation to help fund such advances. Thanks!

    1. Dr chop got t-boned in the same way coming home from jazz fest by a friend of ours, of course there was booze involved. Good luck, and safe riding.

Also hope that your better half is doing alright

  4. Well boys and lady. Kid #2 is officially graduated. Empty nest will now commence.

      1. Technically, we have them both home this summer. But I have a feeling they will not be of the bounce back variety. The boy just finished his first year at U of M for Engineering and the girl is going to UMD (Duluth) for pre-dentistry. The good news is the girl got a $14k scholarship per year at UMD. I am pretty happy we never went "all-in" on sports and the kids did a great job staying up on academics. Between the 2, their academic scholarhships are pushing 6 figures over their 4 years.
