June 30, 2019: Homer At The Bat

By popular demand (i.e. Rhu-Ru's ceaseless jabbering), gonna change up the rules for the homer contest to allow for a little more luck and more scoring. Mostly, it's boring just sitting in first place week after week.  But first, the current standings:

beau 7
zoomx 6
HJ 4
rhubarb 4
Philo 3
free 3
twayn 3
nibbish 2
BrianS 2
rowsdower 2
cheaptoy 1
DreadPirate 1
geoff 1
socal 1

1 point = Solo homer
2 points = Two-run homer
3 points = Three-run homer
5 points = Grand slam
10 points = in addition to above scoring, add ten if the player you pick is not in the starting lineup

x2 multiplier = Double your daily total if your player hits a second homer
x3 multiplier = Triple your daily total if your player hits a third homer
x4 multiplier = in effect only if you correctly predict two pre-game homers (can be same player). No points if both players don't do it.
x8 multiplier (i.e. September desperation move) = in effect only if you correctly predict three pre-game homers (can be combo of same or different players).  No points unless all make it.

SPOOKY RULES

Each Citizen can make one in-game call per night (in addition to your pre-game pick) in where you predict a homer right before it happens.

10 points = Correctly announce a Spooky (don't get additional points or multipliers from above--this is a flat score)
-1 points = If the player you Spooky strikes out you lose a point
-5 points = If the player you Spooky hits into a double play you lose five points

Inside The Park Homerun

If in the rare event the player you pick hits an inside-the-parker, the next game you will be allowed to select 6 players pre-game and get all the points they each get individually

  1. Can you call no HR for the game and get a point if the Twins don’t go yard? (ducks).

    1. eh. it's not a steady and firm rule anymore. however, when writing out other citizens names, like for a list of upcoming parentgood columns or something (*ahem*), i'm always sensitive to how they stylize their handles.

    1. I would only accept it if they were bringing Ricky back. But otherwise, yeah, Tyus is underappreciated.

  2. We just came back from Toy Story 4. It was enjoyable, though not as good as 3. It had some good laughs with a high percentage of them from Key & Peele and the spork was pretty great.
