A big day for the Red Wings.  Jared Akins hits a big home run.  Three home runs carry the E-Twins.

ROCHESTER 11, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 1 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE

A six-run second carried the Red Wings.  Jake Cave was 4-for-6 with a triple, a double, two runs, and three RBIs and is batting .327.  Drew Maggi was 3-for-4 with two walks, three runs, and three RBIs.  Nick Gordon was 3-for-6 with a double, two runs, and two RBIs.  Tomas Telis was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Jaylin Davis was 2-for-5 and is batting .308.  Ronald Torreyes was 2-for-5.  Brent Rooker was 2-for-6.  Sean Poppen pitched seven innings, giving up one run on four hits and one walk and striking out five.  His ERA is 2.20.  Gabriel Moya pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and striking out one.  Andrew Vasquez struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  The Red Wings are 42-42, in third place, 6.5 games back.

BIRMINGHAM 8, PENSACOLA 5 IN BIRMINGHAM (10 INNINGS)

Blake Rutherford hit a three-run homer to end it.  Joe Cronin was 3-for-4.  Caleb Hamilton was 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, and two runs.  Alex Kirilloff was 2-for-5.  The Blue Wahoos are 9-6 and tied for first place.

PALM BEACH AT FORT MYERS

Rained out.  The Miracle is 6-10, in fifth place, six games back.

CEDAR RAPIDS 4, BURLINGTON 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Jared Akins hit a three-run homer in the sixth to put the Kernels in the lead to stay.  Gilberto Celestino was 2-for-3 with a triple and a walk.  Akins was 2-for-4 and the home run was his ninth.  Luis Rijo struck out ten in seven shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.  His ERA is 2.33.  The Kernels are 8-6, in fifth place, 2.5 games back.

ELIZABETHTON 6, KINGSPORT 2 IN ELIZABETHTON

The Twins scored two in the sixth to take a 4-2 lead.  Albee Weiss was 1-for-3 with a home run (his fourth) and a walk.  Alex Isola was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and is batting .400.  Willie Joe Garry, Jr. was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and is batting .314.  Ben Gross pitched six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and a walk and striking out four.  The Twins are 8-8, tied for second, 2.5 games back.

GCL BRAVES 5, GCL TWINS 4 AT TWINS

The Twins led 4-0 after two, but the Braves tied it in the sixth and took the lead on a wild pitch in the eighth.  Jeferson Morales was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk.  Niklas Rimmel pitched five innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks and striking out four.  His ERA is 2.79.  Bradley Hanner struck out four in three innings, giving up one run on one hit and one walk.  His ERA is 2.70.  The Twins are 4-5, tied for third, 3.5 games back.

DSL NATIONALS 2, DSL TWINS 1 AT NATIONALS (10 INNINGS)

Erick Tejeda singled home the deciding run.  The Twins had just three hits.  Erasmo Moreno pitched five innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks and striking out three.  Giovahniey German pitched 4.2 innings, giving up an unearned run on two hits and no walks and striking out two.  The Twins are 8-18, in eighth place, ten games back.
