  1. Watching some Senior Open golf before jumping on the train to Guaranteed Rate Field. It feels a bit surreal that I am older than some of those senior players. One of my future vacations will be to cross the pond and play a few rounds in Europe.

Looking forward to meeting HJ and watch a handful of bombas today.

    1. I've always wanted to play Carnoustie, and of course like every golfer the Old Course at St. Andrews. Had both of them on an old PC game years ago.

    1. Cruz and Sano.

Predicting that the ass-bats are in cold storage today. Jack this clown up. (MLB's preview says that Covey "took a step forward" in his last start by allowing 5 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings. Umm, that's an ERA of 7.50!)

  2. word to Sean: the sidebar thumbnails of comments does not appear to be updating correctly. My reply to zooomx above does not show despite 2-3 refreshes.

I mean, I'm vain. But this is more about me noticing that oddity.

    1. It happens. The plugin is very old. A reimplementation I tried performed very poorly so I switched back. It usually happens when two LTEs are posted at the same time and is fixed when the next LTE is posted.

  3. Gotta love hungry Joe! We are on the Sox patio enjoying a pregame party with Ribs, chicken and all the fixings including an ice cold beverage. Thanks buddy!! Word has it Daneekas Ghost is at the game too! Today is a good day!

    1. HJ also makes for good company at Miller Park when the Twins are getting blown out and you get drunk and want to harass the Twins bullpen.

          1. No, we went to Whole Foods to drink after (to the best of my recollection) being asked to leave the Goose Island Brewery for my drunk whispering (ie not being nearly as quiet as I thought I was) about how I thought the bartender was cute, but she was working so I probably shouldn't hit on her.

I didn't even know that you could drink at Whole Foods. It was a revelation.

              1. Indeed. Sitting there drinking Dragon's Milk instead of mindlessly shuffling around Ikea is always a good idea.

  4. I've been out of the pregame calls lately in an effort to try to get the Twins to play better. But it hasn't really worked that great so I'll go with Cruz.

  5. My second batch of ginger beer is cooling down. I went a bit spicier than last time. I strongly recommend any of the mule heads out there to give homemade a go. The hardest part of it is grating the ginger (stupid fiberous root) and the drinks are incredibly fresh tasting. Just don't make a drink with the last bit on the bottle, though.

      1. 9 cups of water, 1/4 to 1/3 ginger, 1/2 tsp cream of tartar, 1 cup sugar, 1tsp active dry h yeast. Boil a couple cups of water with everything but the yeast and sugar, add sugar, then the rest of the a water. Cool to room temp, pitch yeast and let sit for three hours. Strain into bottle and wait a few days. Then mix with vodka and lime juice.

        1. What does the cream of tartar do?

I did one years ago in a 2-liter soda bottle. It was ginger, lemon peel and juice, sugar, water and bread yeast.

          1. It appears it makes it a bit fizzier, but now that I think about what I'm using it for, it's probably not super necessary.

  6. Greetings from Satan's pizza oven. Just got back from a (therapeutic) massage. My car told me it was 107 degrees at about 2:15 p.m. Prolly only 105 in the shade however.

    1. Yeah, just came on to comment on Bauer. Diva. Hope he gets traded to New York and melts down. Twins have hit him pretty well lately, so it would be fun to beat him on the playoffs.
