Minor Details: Games of August 23

A tremendous game by Jhoan Duran.  A pair of big innings for the Miracle.  The E-Twins win it in the bottom of the ninth.

SYRACUSE 5, ROCHESTER 1 IN SYRACUSE

Leading 2-1, the Mets scored three in the eighth to put the game out of reach.  Ramon Flores was 1-for-4 with a home run, his third.  He is batting .324.  Randy Dobnak pitched five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks and striking out four.  His ERA is 2.15.  Sam Clay pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and two walks and striking out one.  His ERA is 2.50.  The Red Wings are 65-65, in fourth place, five games back.  Their elimination number is six.

PENSACOLA 3, JACKSON 2 IN PENSACOLA

The Blue Wahoos led 3-0 through eight, then held on as the Generals scored two in the ninth and had the bases loaded when the game ended.  Royce Lewis was 3-for-4 with three doubles.  He is batting .263.  Travis Blankenhorn was 2-for-4 with a double.  He is batting .280.  Jhoan Duran struck out eleven in eight shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  His ERA is 5.34.  The Blue Wahoos are 34-26, tied for second, two games back.

FORT MYERS 8, PALM BEACH 3 IN PALM BEACH

The Miracle scored three in the first and five in the second.  Jose Miranda was 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, two runs and two RBIs.  He is batting .245.  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 2-for-4 with a walk.  He is batting .221.  Blayne Enlow pitched 5.1 innings, giving up one run on one hit and two walks and striking out four.  His ERA is 3.20.  Calvin Faucher struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  His ERA is 4.30.  The Miracle is 33-28, in third place, nine games back.

CLINTON 6, CEDAR RAPIDS 3 IN CLINTON

Kameron Misner singled home a run in the fifth to break a 3-3 tie.  Matt Wallner was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and three RBIs.  He is batting .300.  Wander Javier was 2-for-4 with a walk.  He is batting .174.  Austin Schulfer struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  His ERA is 3.65.  The Kernels are 32-28, in fifth place, six games back.

Seth Gray hit a two-run double with two out in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the Twins.  Gray was 3-for-5 with a home run (his tenth), a double, two runs, and three RBIs.  He is batting .217.  Kidany Salva was 2-for-4.  He is batting .274.  Charles Mack was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his seventh.  He is batting .230.  Owen Griffith struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks.  His ERA is 1.04.  Osiris German pitched four innings, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks and striking out three.  His ERA is 3.11.  The Twins are 30-32. in fourth place, 2.5 games back.  Their elimination number is five.
