  1. Today's opposing starter, Jordan Zimmerman, has terrible season lines and has only made 3 starts in the past month. But in those three starts, his opponent slash line is 164/193/345 with 14:1 K:BB in 16 innings (2 5-inning outings and a 6-inning, 2 runs on 5 hits, 5:0 K:BB job against the Naps on August 28).

I'll go with Cruz and Rosario.

  2. What have been on some of your menus this weekend? Yesterday I blew the dust off the grill and made a chicken shawarma with an Isreali salad on the side as well as cilantro-lime shrimp and cobbed corn. Turned out quite tasty.

    1. with the house on the market, I have been dissuaded from cooking for the most part. I made som tum for tonight. Sadly, my papaya was not very green, so it will be a bit sweeter and less crunchy than is desirable.

    2. I made Lamb Tagine with dried fruit:
Cut lamb flank steaks into cubes, browned in olive oil with chopped onions.
Transferred to tagine with dried apricots, prunes, toasted almond slivers, cinnamon, ginger, honey, butter, saffron, salt+peppa, cinnamon sticks, some white wine. Cooked at 400F for an hour. Meanwhile cooked pearl couscous, and when almost done added golden raisins and toasted pine nuts. Yummsville.

      1. Please tell me it wasn't from something delicious that now will be afraid to eat.

        Also, sorry. Been there. 😟

    3. My wife was finally willing to try curry the other day, so I made red curry turkey meatballs and they were awesome. I kept the heat down, though. If I'm going to try to get more curry on the menu it can't be too spicy.

  3. Well, moved the youngest up to Duluth 2 weeks ago. The oldest was dropped off at the U of M yesterday. Empty nest. My wife is struggling. She is off work today. I was an idiot and scheduled myself to work lunch and dinner at the joint. She won't be bored as our cats still fight non stop, but she is already battling loneliness. As much as we prepared for this (see FKB post), it cannot take away just how darn empty the house seems. Time to start up the daily walks we have talked about.

    1. I did cover my shift tonight, so that helps. We are planning several weekend trips this fall up to Duluth to combine time together as a couple mixed in with a lunch or dinner with the daughter.

    2. If she gets too lonely I can send my six year old son up there. He managed to make sure that not a single second was without sound on both the one and a half hour drive to and from the state park we went to today.

  4. It's very unlikely that I'll have time to do either a recap or Minor Details tomorrow. Here's the short version:

The Twins won 4-3. Kepler had a two-run single in the eighth. Arraez and Polanco each had three hits. Adrianza hit a two-run homer, his fifth. Odorizzi got through five innings and the bullpen took it from there.

Rochester lost to Syracuse 8-4. It's season is over. Brandon Barnes hit his thirtieth homer, his sixth with Rochester. Wilin Rosario hit his twentieth homer.
Pensacola defeated Montgomery 8-0. Jose Miranda made his AA debut and was 3-for-5. Bailey Ober struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up one hit. In four AA starts, he pitched 24 innings, had 34 strikeouts, had an ERA of 0.38 and had a WHIP of 0.50. He gave up two walks.
Cedar Rapids defeated Beloit 9-3. Gabe Snyder was 2-for-5 with a three-run homer, his nineteenth.

No Twins affiliates play tomorrow. Pensacola and Cedar Rapids start their playoff series on Wednesday.
