Minor Details: Games of September 4

The opening night of minor league playoffs goes poorly for the Twins.

BILOXI 11, PENSACOLA 10 IN BILOXI (10 INNINGS)

The Blue Wahoos trailed 9-5 going to the ninth, but Alex Kirilloff hit a grand slam and Royce Lewis followed with a solo homer to make it 10-9.  The Shuckers tied it in the bottom of the ninth, though, and Dillon Thomas homered with two out in the tenth to win it for Biloxi.  They apparently don't use the Manfred Rule in the playoffs.  Lewis was 3-for-5.  Kirilloff was 2-for-5 with a grand slam and two runs.  Jose Miranda was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.  Caleb Hamilton was 2-for-5.  Marcos Diplan retired all four batters he faced, striking out two.

The Blue Wahoos trail the best-of-five series 1-0.

QUAD CITIES 4, CEDAR RAPIDS 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Wilyer Abreu's two-run double in the eighth put the River Bandits up 4-1.  Seth Gray was 2-for-4.  Tyler Webb hit a home run.  Luis Rijo struck out six in six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits and no walks.  Austin Schulfer retired all five men he faced, striking out one.

The Kernels trail the best-of-three series 1-0.
