2019 Game 152: Chicago White Sox at Minnesota Twins

Ivan Nova
vs
Jake Odorizzi

Odorizzi gets to try again at pitching in a game. He's done well against the White Sox this year, his only loss coming in a game where the other starter did pretty well.

Nova has also done well against the Twins this year. He has a 5.06 ERA for the season and a 3.12 versus the Twins.

The Twins are projected for 99.9 wins now and could be the underdog in every series.

  1. No parkour on the National Anthem tonite (yay), but a key change midstream (weird) and a flip at the end.

    1. Key changes are cool, but not if everyone singing along is unaware that it's happening.

In the tenor section, the battle cry "modulate!" rings out when a piece hits key changes, because they're ALWAYS to a higher key, to our chagrin

  2. Twins pitching had 14 Ks and 1 BB and 13 ground balls and 2 fly balls. Can't do much better than that. Batters had 5 Ks and 5 BBs. They were 3-for-24 on balls in play. This is why any single game is a crapshoot.

    1. We were at the game. We saw an awful lot of atom balls, so yeah, either real good defensive positioning or just bad luck.

      1. Savant has the Twins with an xBA of .176 versus .252 for the White Sox. There was a lot of weak contact in the game for the Twins. There were some hard hits that turned into outs, but nothing notable. The Twins were a bit unlucky while the White Sox were a bit lucky. They also hit a few balls over the fence.
