  1. Not me. During the recession, the great State of California eliminated two state holidays to "save money." Of course, union negotiations being what they are, we got back two "professional development days" (non-bankable days off). 🙄

I work in a building with federal agencies and fed-provided security, however. So the building will be locked.

  2. Our agency is open, but none of the government agencies we contract with are, so that makes things fun

      1. Oooooohhh. I don't think the schools here even acknowledge the day in any way, shape, or form.

  3. Other than Sunday and Wednesday, I can have a day off whenever I want. The work just piles up and waits for me, though, so there's not much advantage to it.

    1. I can do the same, but the work doesn't pile up for me. However, if I don't work, I don't get paid. Same goes for vacation and sick days. There are definite advantages to being an independent contractor, but not getting paid time off is a definite disadvantage.

  4. The AFL East (which has Twins players) defeated the AFL West 4-2 in the Fall Stars game yesterday.

Royce Lewis was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer that gave the East a 2-0 lead in the second inning.
Zach Neff came in with two out and none on in the ninth. He gave up a single but got a popup to end the game and get the save.

The Dominican League has started. Wilin Rosario plays for Aguilas. He was 1-for-3 with a walk as Aguilas lost to the Gigantes 4-3.

  5. Dont know if its going to reair anywhere or put up on a streaming service, but FOX is airing a Tom Seaver documentary right now
