  1. Jonathan Cheshire remains the only Twin playing winter ball at the current time. I posted this in yesterday's cup, but in case you missed it:

Jonathan Cheshire pitched a perfect inning Friday, striking out one, as Escogido defeated Aguilas 4-3. He was credited with the win. Cheshire is 2-0, 1.36, 0.60 WHIP with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in 6.2 innings.

  2. On the quest to try out plant-based alternatives to meat, NBBW and I got Impossible Whoppers at Burger King today. Not bad. You can't tell the difference between the veg patty and regular meat. Cost of a regular whopper is $4.59 - impossible whopper was a buck more.

Total cost for two with medium fries was $17.83. Seems high for fast food but we haven't had drive-thru food in years.

Impossible Burger ingredients list: Water, Textured Wheat Protein, Coconut Oil, Potato Protein, Natural Flavors, 2% or less of: Leghemoglobin (soy), Yeast Extract, Salt, Soy Protein Isolate, Konjac Gum, Xanthan Gum, Thiamin (Vitamin B1), Zinc, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Vitamin B12.

Impossible Beef is currently privately held, but their rival, Beyond Beef, has had a rough go of it lately.

I think that says a lot about the regular meat that is in a whopper. πŸ˜‰

    2. I was not impressed by the Impossible Whopper. To me, it didnt taste like meat, the texture was weird in my mouth and very very dry. Probably will not try again.

        1. McDonalds is rolling out with some plant based burgers soon, BK will keep theirs for a while.

          1. We'll try Impossible again but not at fast food place. NBBW likes the burgers on Bibb lettuce with no bun.

  3. If you're in my town and feel a need to crawl around under my house to help me insulate my plumbing feel free to stop by. The spiders and other crawling bugs would appreciate the company.

  4. The jalapeΓ±o's friend from school invited him to today's game--along with Mr. NaCl. First Gophers game either of them have ever been to. They left the house this morning in many, many layers of clothes.

  5. Oh my, this was looking so much like one of those classic Mason games until... it wasn't

    1. 3 different times, I was going to post something here, but had to wait until it was over. I loved the PJ signing at the beginning. I doubted a bit in the first 2 years as he sounded similar to Brewster and I was unsure if there was substance behind the swagger. Well folks, PJ Fleck is the real deal and maybe Jerry Kill can just finally stop talking.

  6. I watched what I could in the Gopher game while slinging drinks, shaking hands and kissing babies at work. A few observations:

Coming in, our offensive coordinator said he would run the ball and stick with what got them there. A bit of gamesmanship, as the Gophers came out taking shots downfield. They still had a lot more rushing attempts than passing, but they weren't conservative passes in the flat. They were throwing downfield. It reminded me of when the Eagles beat the Vikes in the NFC Championship 2 years ago. Nick Foles was really the first QB that year to air it out against that vaunted defense. The Gophers out-gameplanned the Nittany Lions. They knew the only way they would be able to gain any yards on the ground would be to loosen up the defense with some big plays... and boy did they have some big plays.

The play calling midway through the second half got a little conservative for me. But we won, so I won't nit pick too much on that.

Penn State fans, of course, are blaming the refs while the rest of the country is saying PSU was overrated. Still not seeing a lot of respect for the Maroon and Gold. This is ok, as I prefer to see these guys with a chip on their shoulder.

No way 2 Big Ten teams now get into the College Football Playoffs (final 4). If Ohio State wins out, they will go. If they lose to PSU or the U of M, they will be out. If PSU or the Gophers win out, they will be in. 'sconi, Iowa and Michigan could win out, but will not make it to the playoffs.
