2020 Game Log 30: Minnesota Twins at Cleveland Spiders

We ride into Ohio behind King Kenta* who is coming off perhaps the best performance of his career. He'll face off against Civale, who like any member of the Cleveland pitching staff, is "pretty good".

The Twins are only 1.5 games ahead of the Spiders, so this three game series will be an important one.

Kenta-san:

(*everybody wanna cut the legs off him.)

  1. unfortunately, I missed Cruz's missile.
Fortunately, it was because I was making cocktails (vodka gimlets)

    1. Cleveland has had great pitching so far this year. Best RA/G, FIP and WHIP in the majors coming into tonight.

      1. BR rates Cleveland's starters at 4.0 wins above average so far. The Padres are second with 2.2 WAA. Twins are 11th. Cleveland does not have the best bullpen, where they're only fourth. Their position players meanwhile rank 28th.

  2. According to baseball-reference.com, that's Rocco's 17th challenge of the season. He's gotten 6 calls overturned., or 35.3%. Last year he made 39 challenges and had 12 overturned. or 30.8%.

For all of baseball this year, there have been 343 challenges, with 150 overturned (43.7%).

    1. I believe it's the replay room that judges whether it's worth challenging. I wonder how much input the manager has other than indicating he might challenge.

  3. I couldn't tell if that bat toss was frustration or indication he was about to take a stroll.

  4. Some uncomfortably loud outs for Romo. On the plus side, Cleveland is inept at the batting thing.
