      1. It’s frustrating, and he definitely is mistake-prone, but I’m not going to lose any sleep over his place on the team. At age 28 in his first year of arbitration, he’s the sort of player where it is easy to pay him during these cost-controlled years and then just let him walk in free agency when he is 31. He hits for good power and walks at a reasonable clip. From the eye test, I’m surprised his fangraphs defensive stats are as poor as they are, so maybe I do overrate him some—it’s just so hard for a cost-controlled player with any positive attributes to really be a problem. Unless he’s blocking someone great—usually that’s not a big issue in the OF where it’s pretty easy to move guys around.

  1. Is there a football season happening? I have been paying almost no attention, but I notice it’s September...and then I’m seeing roster moves and all that. There’s a schedule published but I just assume all plans are left in stasis from the before times.
    This year is so weird.

  2. On the smoker today —-> the final sale rack of ribs and some chicken thighs. Halloumi and corn + pearled couscous salad and roasted veg as sides.

    1. Hawaiian chicken here.

Also making spaghetti sauce for freezing from the tomato scraps after freezing tomatoes all week long.

    2. I have two more steaks to deal with (I did the hour at 200 yesterday then refrigerated; will sear today and slice up). Pinto beans are soaking. Anaheim chiles for roasting. Tacos and beans.

      1. I have not heard of doing to low heat cooking on a different day than the final sear. Is there an advantage other than it might fit your schedule better?

        1. I am about to find out.

I figured that separating the two wouldn't be a big deal and I wanted to get the last two cooked. But I have never done this before.

Gonna let them warm up for an hour or so before searing.

            1. Seared them but have not sliced. Will find out in the morning. (I had other leftover steak for tonight)
