  1. I recommend the Game Changer episode of Death, Sex, and Money podcast. Focus on a former Twins minor leaguer. Could have been time as long but still pretty good.

        1. I saw someone wearing a Homer Hanky for a mask a couple months ago. Did not expect that out here in SoCal.

  2. Friday, while in Duluth, I saw a news feed from my hometown about a car crash near my home. My stomach sank and I could not shake the feeling that someone I knew had died. The next morning I found out on facebook that it was my neighbor of 16 years across the road. Our boys played hockey and baseball together. I coached with her husband. We always talked about getting together more often with them once we empty nested as they were awesome neighbors. Sad to see a very sweet lady go way too early. 2020 can just go away please.

    1. I'm sorry for your/their loss. That's a really tough one, and I pray for everyone's comfort and healing.

      1. Thanks pal, small town. To top it off the young lady who died the next day (unrelated) worked for me at Pike a few years back and I know her family fairly well from Calvary Church. My heart breaks for both families.

      1. I suppose there's this to consider as well:

        1. However, I bet Sano can't spell Kirilloff. Before I get attacked, I could only spell Kirilloff by looking at RhuRu's post.

  3. Many of you know that Parker Hageman used to make videos of Twins highlights using Starship's Nothing's Going to Stop Us as the soundtrack. Unfortunately Parker went into Twitter jail for a bit due to copyright infringement and I think all those videos had to be taken down. Well it looks like Parker must have secured some permissions because he posted another video, just in time to get you jacked up for the playoffs.

    1. Sandwich lettuce... now there is a discussion. I am not a fan of spring mix on a sandwich as it is a bit messy and it breaks down so quickly. However, I do use it on one sandwich at work and often at home when I don't have another option. Plain leaf lettuce does not float my boat at all. I have worked at places that use romaine lettuce, but that is just wrong and gross. Iceberg is great for texture but has no flavor AND the water content can mess with your sandwich. My favorite lettuce for sandwiches is BiBB lettuce. We use this lettuce at the joint for Ahi Tuna Wraps but I also use it on all my personal sandwiches and burgers (back when I ate burgers). I used to use it on the menu much more prevalently but the supply chain could not support that as we constantly were shorted and had to sub in something else.

      1. I'm going to have to give that a try, because while I do like SOMETHING on there, none of the options I've been trying lately have been working for me.

      2. I forgot spinach. I can abide spinach as the lettuce component of a sandwich.

Oh, and my biggest pet peeve is a sandwich with NO lettuce whatsoever. There is a joint I eat at frequently that has an ok Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, but it is just bun, breaded chicken, buffalo sauce and blue cheese crumbles. Blasphemy. At the very least shave some celery for the sandwich if you are not going to add a lettuce component.

        1. Yes to arugula. Love the flavor, but cant pair with heavier sandwich fixins due to lack of texture. By the way arugula pesto is better than basil pesto.

        1. I cannot do sprouts ever since a food safety class a decade or so ago. One of the highest risk foods for food borne illness.

          1. yup. i worked at a sammich shop where we eventually got rid of them for that reason. one of the reasons i've wanted to start growing them at home.

      1. /pulls pin

If you put smoked, black forest, and honey ham in front of me, I'd be hard-pressed to tell you which was which.

              1. If you are talking deli or over processed ham, I agree. However a ham sandwich made out of yesterdays big ol' ham roast is to die for.
