    1. It definitely seemed to affect him, and it also seemed like a totally unnecessary intrusion. As LaTroy said, you shouldn’t have to declare which position you’re pitching from.

      1. Rule 8.01 Legal pitching delivery.

There are two legal pitching positions, the Windup Position and the Set Position, and either position may be used at any time.

    1. Not sure if you guys deal in marrow at the place, but last time in Minny, I got some beef bones at Brines, had the butcher cut them lengthwise, and then roasted them. I then scooped out the marrow for flavor in home-made rahmen (yum).

Later, boiled the bones in water to make bone broth, which NBBW used to hydrate arborio rice for mushroom risotto.

  1. I've been pretty busy lately, but I had no idea the Twins had a player named Luke Farrell.

    1. His record is--not terribly impressive. But I guess if it was, he wouldn't be coming into a game the Twins were trailing 7-0.

  2. I changed my mind. Seven-inning games are a good thing when it ends terrible games early.

  3. I don’t know what mash-up would be more fun to see — a player who combined Luis Arráez’ batting skills & self-contained mentality with Nick Punto’s glove, or a player who combined Astudillo’s gonzo baseball intelligence & positional versatility with DSPAN2’s speed and hitting profile.

  4. Last scored in the sixth inning, and only that inning, in the sole Angels game. 14 zeros after that so far.

  5. If you were to add the games Bob Melvin, Tony La Russa, and Bob Geren (5th most in Athletics franchise history) together, you would still be 161 games shy of Connie Mack’s record.

Ten managers in A’s history have managed 161 games or fewer...including Connie Mack’s son, Earle.

    1. Melvin will pass Gardenhire in games managed next week. He will pass Earl Weaver sometime around the All-Star break.

    2. Looking at baseball-reference, I didnt realize that era between Mack and LaRussa was a turbulent time for A's managers.

  6. OMG. Arráez & Astudillo with the 7-4 double play!

Those two make up for so much of the frustration of all those years of the futility of Tolbert, Laddie, 0-for-Thrivas...

      1. Because of the hamstring soreness, Buxton hadn't played in 8 days and because of COVID issues, he probably had to stay away from batting cages ever since the first postponement. I'm glad he got a hit his first ime.

  7. Twins hadn't been shut out till today. Last time they had been shut out prior to today was a 1-0 loss to the Cubs in September.

    Pre-vaccinated Twins were 5-2. Post-vaccinated Twins drop to 1-8.

Also, has any team ever ended two win streaks of at least 9 games in the same month?
