ST. PAUL 3, INDIANAPOLIS 2 IN ST. PAUL (COMPLETION OF SUSPENDED GAME)

Jimmy Kerrigan singled home the deciding run with two out in the ninth.

Batting stars:  Alex Kirilloff was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer.  Tomas Telis was 2-for-4 with a double.

Pitching stars:  Chandler Shepherd struck out six in four innings, giving up one run on four hits and two walks.  Juan Minaya struck out three in three innings, giving up one run on three hits.  Andrew Vasquez struck out three in two perfect innings.

Opposition stars:  Ethan Paul was 2-for-3 with a double.  Chad Kuhl struck out five in three shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Stats:  Kirilloff is batting .667.  Vasquez has an ERA of 1.29.

The Drillers scored three in the third and never trailed.  Jacob Amaya hit a two-run homer in the third inning.

Pitching star:  Ryan Mason pitched a perfect inning, striking out one.

Opposition stars:  Amaya was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer (his second) and a walk.  Devin Mann was 1-for-2 with a home run (his second) and a walk.  Ryan Pepiot pitched four shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out three.

Starter:  Bryan Sammons struck out six in five innings but gave up three runs on two hits and three walks.

Stats:  Jose Miranda was 0-for-3 and is batting .345.  Aaron Whitefield was 0-for-3 and is batting .322.  Jovani Moran gave up a run in two innings and has an ERA of 1.69.

Andrew Bechtold was 1-for-4 and is batting .178.  Gilberto Celestino was 1-for-3 and is batting .186.  Sammons has an ERA of 5.02.

Record:  The Wind Surge is 9-6, in second place, a half game behind Arkansas.

BELOIT 4, CEDAR RAPIDS 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels led 2-1 through eight, but Will Banfield hit a two-run homer to put the Snappers in the lead and an error brought home an insurance run.

Batting stars:  Matt Wallner was 4-for-5 with a home run (his fourth) and a triple.  Seth Gray was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Gabriel Maciel was 2-for-4.

Pitching star:  Kody Funderburk pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits and a walk and striking out three.

Opposition stars:  Griffin Conine was 2-for-4.  Banfield was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his third.

Stats:  Wallner is batting .322.  Spencer Steer was 0-for-4 and is batting .319.  Funderburk has an ERA of 1.32.

Chris Williams was 0-for-3 and is batting .125.  Wander Javier was 0-for-4 and is batting .143.  Michael Helman was 0-for-3 and is batting .176.  Zach Featherstone did not give up a run in two-thirds of an inning and has an ERA of 9.00.

Record:  The Kernels are 7-8, in third place, 3.5 games behind Quad Cities.

TAMPA 16, FORT MYERS 5 IN TAMPA

The Tarpons had no hits through five innings but still led 4-2.  They then got eleven hits in their last three innings at bat, scoring one in the sixth, four in the seventh, and seven in the eighth.

Batting stars:  Charles Mack was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer (his second) and a walk.  Anthony Prato was 1-for-2 with three walks.

Pitching star:  Bradley Hanner struck out five in 4.1 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on no hits and two walks.

Opposition stars:  Austin Wells was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, three runs, and two RBIs.  Andres Chaparro was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs, and two RBIs.  Trevor Hauver was 2-for-4 with a triple, two walks, two runs, and three RBIs.

Starter:  Steven Cruz started and pitched two-third of an inning, giving up two runs on no hits but four walks.  He struck out two.  I don't think he was an opener--he simply couldn't find the plate and was pulled after throwing thirty-six pitches.

Stats:  Edouard Julien was 1-for-4 and is batting .333.

Wander Valdez was 0-for-3 and is batting .100.  Willie Joe Garry, Jr.  was 0-for-4 and is batting .125.  Aaron Sabato was 0-for-3 and is batting .137.  Jeferson Morales was 0-for-2 and is batting .147.  Mack is batting .185.  Cruz has an ERA of 6.75.  Osiris German allowed five runs (two eanred) in one inning and has an ERA of 7.27.  Denny Bentley allowed five runs (four earned) in 1.1 innings and has an ERA of 10.80.  Zarion Sharpe allowed two runs in a third of an inning and has an ERA of 36.00

Record:  The Mighty Mussels are 7-8, tied for third with Clearwater and Lakeland, four games behind Tampa.
