OMAHA 5, ST. PAUL 2 IN ST. PAUL

The Saints led 2-1 through seven, but Ryan O'Hearn homered in the eighth to tie it and the Storm Chasers scored three in the ninth to win it.

Batting star:  Sherman Johnson was 1-for-4 with a home run, his fifth.

Pitching star:  Kenta Maeda struck out five in four innings, giving up one run on one hit and one walk.

Opposition stars:  O'Hearn was 3-for-5 with two home runs, his sixth and seventh.  Ryan McBroom was 2-for-4.  Eddie Butler struck out five in 4.2 innings, giving up one run on one hit and three walks.

Good stats:  Maeda made his St. Paul debut and has an ERA of 2.25.

Bad stats:  Daniel Descalso was 0-for-3 and is batting .069.  Keon Broxton was 0-for-3 and is batting .157.  Drew Maggi was 0-for-3 and is batting .189.

Record:  The Saints are 16-16, in third place in the AAA East-Midwest, 6.5 games behind Omaha.

TULSA 1, WICHITA 0 IN TULSA

There was no score until the ninth, when Romer Cuadrado's infield single brought home the deciding run.

Batting stars:  Jose Miranda was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Caleb Hamilton was 2-for-3 with a walk.

Pitching stars:  Cole Sands struck out eight in 5.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and three walks.  Jovani Moran struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Andre Jackson struck out five in four shutout innings, giving up five hits and a walk.  Bryan Brickhouse pitched two perfect innings, striking out one.

Good stats:  Ernie De La Trinidad was 0-for-4 and is batting .319.  Miranda is batting .317.  Jermaine Palacios was 1-for-4 and is batting .308.  B. J. Boyd was 0-for-4 and is batting .306.  Moran has an ERA of 0.84.  Yennier Cano allowed one run in 1.2 innings and has an ERA of 1.65.  Sands has an ERA of 2.84.

Bad stats:  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 1-for-4 and is batting .167.  Andrew Bechtold was 0-for-3 and is batting .196.

CEDAR RAPIDS 8, BELOIT 2 IN BELOIT

Spencer Steer's two-run double capped a three-run fourth that gave the Kernels a 5-1 lead.

Batting stars:  Steer was 3-for-4 with two home runs (his sixth and seventh) a double, two runs, and four RBIs.  Alex Isola was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, his second.  Wander Javier was 1-for-5 with a home run, his third.

Pitching stars:  Kody Funderburk struck out twelve in five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and one walk.  Jordan Gore retired all nine men he faced, eight by strikeout.  Zach Featherstone pitched a perfect inning and struck out one.

Opposition stars:  Connor Scott was 2-for-4.  Ynmanol Marinez was 1-for-3 with a home run.

Good stats:  Funderburk has an ERA of 1.93.

Bad stats:  Chris Williams was 1-for-2 to raise his average to .091.  Leobaldo Cabrera was 1-for-2 and is batting .194.  Gabriel Maciel was 1-for-3 and is batting .197.

Record:  The Kernels are 14-18, in fifth place in the High-A Central-West, 6.5 games behind Quad Cities.

JUPITER 4, FORT MYERS 3 IN JUPITER

The Hammerheads scored three in the bottom of the ninth to win it.  The deciding run scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Batting stars:  Keoni Cavaco was 3-for-4 with a double.  Jeferson Morales was 3-for-4 with two runs.

Pitching stars:  Louie Varland struck out eleven in six shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks.  Steven Cruz struck out two in two innings, giving up an unearned run on no hits and no walks.

Opposition star:  Chris Mokma pitched six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk and striking out three.

Good stats:  Edouard Julien was 0-for-3 and is batting .310.  Varland has an ERA of 2.42.

Bad stats:  Nick Anderson was 0-for-4 in his Fort Myers debut and is batting zero.  Willie Joe Garry, Jr. was 0-for-4 and is batting .157.  Misael Urbina was 0-for-3 and is batting .165.  Aaron Sabato was 0-for-4 and is batting .165.  Charles Mack was 0-for-4 and is batting .177.  Bradley Hanner allowed three runs in two-thirds of an inning, walking five, and has an ERA of 5.17.  Cruz lowered his ERA to 5.68.

Record:  The Mighty Mussels are 17-15, tied for third place with Clearwater, six games behind Tampa.
