  1. So I bailed on the ATL-MIL game last night because the Bucks were up with about 4 minutes left and it didn't seem like the Hawks had much steam left. I need to stop leaving games involving Atlanta early.

  2. We adopted a kitten yesterday. What the hell were we thinking? Meet Lucius Oculis Caeruleis, also known as Louie Blue Eyes.

    1. Just remember: The scruff of their neck is a cheat code to let them know a behavior is not good.

      1. Yeah, I could use a shortcut for that cheat code, it's likely to get used a lot. This morning he was playfully pawing my beard and out of the blue just lunged in and bit my chin. I was worried about the dog since she's a herder and relentlessly controlling but this kitten is fearless and two days in they're good buddies already. The cat, though, seems pretty put out by the whole deal and so far she's just avoided the kitten completely. That relationship's going to take some time, I'm afraid.

        1. When we brought home our second cat, I was not aware you are supposed to keep them apart for a few days. The first week was.... rough. But they're buddies now.

          1. It took months for our two cats to share a room. It wasn't until my parents hosted them when we went on vacation and they had to deal with a dog that they bonded over shared "trauma".

    2. When we brought Bacon Thee Cat home the pound said she was a year old. I guessed that they were wrong by about 6 months but I was wrong. She is tiny with huge paws and a long tail. Turns out she's equal measure shark and raptor. Though she has mellowed a bit and will allow us to pick her up, there is often no warning when she's going to decide that it's time to eat human flesh. Probably a true reflection of her captor's personalities.

      1. When we moved to Indiana we inherited a couple of feral barn cats. The Siamese was only around for a few months and then just disappeared, we never knew if it up and left or got killed. The other, a huge male orange tabby, eventually learned to tolerate us. We would put food out for him and after several weeks he started coming up to the house after dark to eat it, but there was no taming that guy. He would sometimes leave a dead critter by the back door to thank us for the cat food, though.

  3. So after the Edema thing back in March, I've cut back on salt a lot. I'm almost done with my Dash and need to get a replacement - might try out something else - there's a lot of options.

I started making Ramen a month ago, not using their salty-packs, but instead making up my own hooch. I 've become a Ramen Head

So far I've made it with steak, venison, bone marrow, tofu, and tonight cut-up chicken thighs. At A Dong (viet-groc-store) I am buying 10-packs of the noodle-disks. Tonight's broth was fab: minced garlic toasted in olive oil, then red onion slices, fresh ginger, the chicken thigh pieces, beef broth, chili-garlic sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce (nuoc mam), soy sauce, and some hoisin, I cook the noodles in separate water to cut the starch out of the final product. Use chopsticks to shunt the Ramen into a porcelain Chinese spoon, then slurp it up.
