Jose Miranda showed he's ready for AAA.  A Wind Surge comeback falls short.  Four pitchers carry the Kernels.  Not much offense for the Mighty Mussels.

ST. PAUL 15, OMAHA 4 IN ST. PAUL

The Saints scored four in the first and led 8-2 after three.

Batting stars:  Jose Miranda made an awesome AAA debut.  He went 5-for-6 with three home runs, four runs, and six RBIs.  Damek Tomscha was 3-for-5 with two home runs (his seventh and eighth), and four RBIs.  Brent Rooker was 2-for-4 with a home run (his twelfth), a walk, and three RBIs.  Mark Contreras was 2-for-4 with a home run (his fifth) and two runs.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 2-for-5.

Pitching star:  Kyle Barraclough struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Gabriel Cancel was 3-for-5 with a home run (his twelfth), a double, and two runs.  Nick Dini was 2-for-4.  Kyle Isbel was 2-for-5.

Starter:  Yennier Cano struck out two in two innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks.  This was a bullpen game.

Good stats:  Miranda is batting .833 with an OPS of 3.333.  Ian Hamilton gave up a run in two innings and has an ERA of 1.31.

Bad stats:  Keon Broxton was 1-for-3 and is batting .152.  Willians Astudillo was 1-for-4 and is batting .194.  Robinson Leyer gave up a run in an inning and has an ERA of 5.87,

Record:  The Saints are 22-26, in fifth place in the AAA East-Midwest, ten games behind Omaha.

AMARILLO 4, WICHITA 3 IN AMARILLO

The Wind Surge trailed 4-0 after four and had the tying run on base when the game ended.

Batting star:  D. J. Burt was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.

Pitching stars:  Calvin Faucher pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.  Zach Neff pitched a perfect inning and struck out one.  Ryan Mason pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Dominic Miroglio was 2-for-3 with a double.  Alek Thomas was 2-for-4.  Matt Tabor pitched seven innings, giving up two unearned runs on two hits and no walks and striking out four.

Starter:  Jason Garcia struck out six in four innings, but allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks.

Good stats:  Aaron Whitefield was 0-for-4 and is batting .306.  Neff has an ERA of 2.12.  Mason has an ERA of 2.96.

Bad stats:  Spencer Steer was 0-for-4 in his AA debut and is batting zero.  David Banuelos was 0-for-3 and is batting .185.  Garcia has an ERA of 6.39.  Faucher has an ERA of 8.14.

Record:  The Wind Surge is 28-21, in second place in the AA Central-North, a half game behind Tulsa.

CEDAR RAPIDS 1, QUAD CITIES 0 IN QUAD CITIES

DaShawn Keirsey singled home the game's only run in the fourth.  Four pitchers combined to give up just three hits.

Batting star:  Wander Javier was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Pitching stars:  Tyler Watson struck out four in four shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks.  Tyler Palm pitched a perfect inning.  Zach Featherstone struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks.  Jordan Gore pitched two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Opposition stars:  John Rave was 2-for-3.  Dante Blasi pitched four shutout innings, giving up two hits and five walks and striking out three.  Noah Murdock pitched 3.1 innings, giving up one run on no hits and two walks and striking out three.

Good stats:  Keirsey is batting .316.  Featherstone has an ERA of 1.66.  Watson has an ERA of 2.45.  Gore has an ERA of 2.94.

Sammy Siani's third-inning homer put the Marauders in front to stay.

Pitching stars:  Miguel Rodriguez struck out six in five innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks.  Zaquiel Puentes pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two hits and striking out one.

Opposition stars:  Ernny Ordonez was 2-for-4 with a home run (his second) and four RBIs.  Luis Ortiz pitched 4.2 innings, giving up one run on four hits and three walks and striking out four.  Cameron Junker pitched 3.1 scoreless innings, giving up two walks and striking out one.

Good stats:  Puentes has an ERA of zero.  Juan Pichardo allowed two runs in two innings and has an ERA of 2.35.  Rodriguez has an ERA of 2.76.
