    1. He's had two good games out of three. Maybe he's bumping up his trade value a little bit.

  1. Runner daughter and I reserved tickets for Black Widow tomorrow morning. We're looking forward to some mindless escapism on a big screen finally (while masked).

    1. going on Sunday to see it on the Big Screen with my superhero movie group, or at least those of us comfortable with going at this stage (which does not include my lovely wife).

    2. Awesome!

My oldest daughter and I were planning on going, but as we're leaving for a road trip soon I suddenly got hesitant. Even though we're both vaccinated, our youngest isn't and I'm thinking maybe limit exposures where we can. So we might pay the Disney+ price and watch it that way. It will work well for us, actually, because the other 3 in the family are catching up on the movies and could be able to watch this one in August.

    3. also, speaking of mindless escapism, I vegged out on the couch yesterday, sapped from a long travel day home on wednesday. I watched the new Chris Pratt vehicle, The Tomorrow War.

It was perfectly cromulent. I laughed out loud at the coup de grâce delivered to the Big Bad near the end, as it was ludicrous. But then, this movie isn't meant to be taken too seriously anyway. I enjoyed it. Pratt was excellent, Yvonne Strahovski was believable in her role (I've been a big fan since her Chuck days), and J.K. Simmons was just about right as Conspiracy Santa.

      1. We watched that a couple of nights ago. I'd call it fun but dumb. Even before the end, there were a few places where the dialog and/or plot were laugh-out-loud bad.

        1. co-sign on fun-but-dumb. I get weepy at the drop of a hat, but this one didn't really do that for me. I was laughing at both the intentional and the unintentional comedy moments. And I tried very hard not to think too much about the time paradox issues or the silliness of how easily a high school science teacher and his geologist (??) buddy figured out the puzzle. Or the selection of the "expert" they utilized to find the baddies.

  2. Such a strange season.

The Twins are currently 14 games under .500, same as they were after game 42 (14-28) but they have never fallen below 15 games under .500

It just doesn't feel like that can be true, does it?

    1. It's kind of like falling into a well, then treading water until you eventually drown.

      1. I see it more like tripping at the top of stairs, and then flailing on the way down as you try to catch yourself before eventually hitting the bottom.

  3. This message is being typed at the Pike and Pint restaurant in Alexandria, MN. Miss SBG and I are here, we shook hands with the proprietor and we are gonna have dinner. An absolutely beautiful space.

    1. I had the Walleye sandwich, Miss SBG had the Korean Beef Tacos. The Walleye was a fine example of the form, generous piece of fish, well executed. Miss SBG gobbled up those tacos very quickly, but she did say very good. No dessert, we were stuffed, but even if I didn’t know the owner I would absolutely come back. Well done.

      1. It was great seeing you and meeting your daughter too! Sorry I could not visit longer. We had our second busiest day ever. I was unaware that yesterday was Law Enforcement graduation day at the local tech college. Glad you enjoyed your visit!

        1. "We had our second busiest day ever" is starting to sound like, "the dog ate my homework.". 😉

          1. There were people waiting to be seated when we left. I cannot believe how great your patio is. If I lived in Alex that would absolutely be my go to place.
