  1. Without trying to be in "dog ate my homework" mode, last week was crazy nuts. My Chef is on vacation with her family, so I am doing double duty. We had a big trap shoot up here in Alex which is always a crazy week. Add on Law Enforcement graduation and it made for a crazy busy week. The only meal period I did not work was Monday night, otherwise I was here from 7 am til between 9 and 11pm every day last week. Sunday I had one cook no show (he needed to go anyway), one end up in the ER due to infected hangnail in his toe. I was supposed to have my first day off in forever. Ended up cooking lunch and then made the call to close the kitchen at 4pm to give my cooks a night off. Many of them have been working 50+ hour a week and were fatigued. Last night, I met with my 2 sous chefs and we re-engineered the menu. Pulled off a few items that are slowing us down and fixed a few recipes and procedures to lighten the load. My chef returns on Thursday and I have 3 new cooks starting this week. Cannot wait to get back to one or two days off per week and get out of being in "survival" mode. P.S. I haven't watched an inning of the Twins in about a month. I guess I picked a good summer to not have time to follow.

    1. Not sure what you're asking. Do you mean a home security system with cameras and such that uses a wifi network to transmit video and audio? Or do you mean wifi security protocols like WEP and WPA?

      1. Poorly written. Agreed.

A home security system that uses video over wifi. My dad travels to Arizona for half the year. He's considering moving into a condo or townhome in Iowa since he leaves the house empty. I think he would be unhappy in a condo so I'm trying to come up with some solutions for him.

I was looking at ring doorbell with additional video cameras. My sister said she has Vivint. I'll probably just go with Vivint so she can help him, if needed.

        1. After we had a break in 3-4 years ago, we got a SimpliSafe alarm system, and cameras from Blink, along with a Ring doorbell. We’ve been generally pretty happy with them.

          1. I've had several wifi cameras and the best bang for the cheap bucks are the Wyze labs cams and outdoor cams. The app is user friendly, though they do try to upsell..., and with the older models you have onboard recording for up to 12 days.

    1. From Rhett Bollinger's story:

The designated-hitter rule has been changed for the first time ever specifically to allow the American League to keep the DH after Ohtani exits.

... However, the rules have been adjusted for the All-Star Game so that even if Ohtani is taken out of the game as a pitcher, he can remain in the game as a DH, and also be replaced in that role. The only way the AL will lose the DH is if Ohtani (or one of his replacements at DH) were to play a position in the field other than pitcher, which is unlikely.

      1. It's an exhibition so I don't really care, but the rules these days seem more like suggestions to be ignored when they become inconvenient.

  2. I only tuned in for the Twins’ first pick last night, and I’ll admit this doesn’t make me a good person, but my Manfred hathos reflex tingled when I read he was booed on set multiple times throughout the draft broadcast.

    1. I didn't watch the first half of the first round, but he was booed every time he went up to make an announcement of a draft pick when I was watching.

    2. I wish next year they'd play the futures game on Sunday night, rather than having the draft at that time. I know they're trying to make the draft a thing, like the NFL draft, but I don't see that working out. Give the top minor league players a showcase.

  3. I've tried to google to no avail, but apparently there are 23 MLB teams that have reached 85% players vaccinated. Does anyone know which teams those are?

    1. Based on the 4ltr & AP News articles I’ve read, it seems like the Commissioner’s Office is not identifying teams that reach the 85% threshold. It wasn’t clear to me if that’s MLB’s corporate PR prerogative, or whether it’s part of an agreement with MLBPA regarding player privacy issues or something else.

    2. I believe most beat writers have noted when their team reached the threshold but there doesn't seem to be a list available. The press releases announcing the number of teams dominate search results and makes it difficult to find the teams.

    3. When you watch games, if you see coaches and the bench wearing masks they are not at 85%.

Dick Bremer made a note that KC was not at the threshold and that's why the pitching coach was wearing a gaiter on the mound

        1. "I remember when Jim Gosger used to play for the Athletics and Charlie Finley used to call him "Gator". I don't know why, but he did."

      1. Since I’m in Bally Sports Network Hell, I don’t get to see a lot of games. Do Twins coaches wear masks?

          1. I found Gleeman's mailbag from May 27:

Two weeks ago, the Twins’ traveling party, which consists of players and staff, reached the 85 percent threshold for vaccinations. MLB set that mark as the point at which teams have loosened COVID-19 protocols, such as no longer being required to wear masks in the dugout and fewer off-field restrictions.
