  1. The Connecticut chapter of the WGOM met for lunch yesterday at Bear's BBQ in Windsor.

Fun to meet Sean - my first in-person meeting with a member of the World's Greatest.

We had pulled pork and brisket - awesome.

    1. I was tooling about New Haven this past week and thought of you out there. Drove through “H-istan” (?) on the way to/from the airport. Funny that you got together yesterday.

  2. On The Smoker
Inspired by yesterday's lunch, I fired up the pit barrel cooker and today am smoking Pork Belly and Brisket over cherry wood chips.
I bought some Puerto Rican loaves at the panaderia down the road, and am planning on making pork belly bahn mi sammiches for lunch today.

    1. And just made a batch of quick pickle for the bahn mi sammie from the garden (zucchini and yellow squash sliced thinly, greek oregano, equal parts apple cider vinegar and water, some sugar and coarse salt).

    2. Funny, I bought a pork shoulder and defrosted a brisket that I was going to smoke today but I didn't get out of bed early enough. Tomorrow will be smoked meats day at the slaughterhouse.

      1. And I more or less finished cutting up my crab apple tree to use for smoking meats in the future.
